Trivia / A.P. Bio

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: Miles is credited as a main cast member despite being missing from several episodes. Meanwhile, many of Jack's students, who all appear in every episode, are only credited as supporting players.
  • The Cast Showoff: Every season has had at least one episode that features Grace performing some impressive dance moves.
  • The Danza:
    • Mary Sohn plays Mary Wagner.
    • Recurring teacher Dave is played by David Neher.
  • Dawson Casting: Naturally, none of Jack's students are actually played by 16-year-olds. The age gap between the character and their actor varies from student to student, with some being only a few years older and others being well into their twenties. By the fourth season, Nick Peine, who plays Marcus, is 31 years old and sports a receding hairline and a noticeable five-o'clock shadow.
  • Fake Guest Star: Practically all of Jack’s students, particularly Heather, Anthony, Sarika, Marcus, Grace and Dan, to the point where they threaten to become the real stars of the show. None of them are ever credited as regulars.
  • The Other Marty: Michelle was played by Vanessa Bayer in the pilot before being replaced by Jean Villepique in the series proper.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor:
    • Helen is eventually revealed to be a lesbian, and is played by the openly gay Paula Pell.
    • Devin is briefly stated to be fluid in one episode, and is played by a queer actor.
  • Real Song Theme Tune: The show uses "Listen to My Heart" by The Ramones as its theme song (albeit a very brief snippet).
  • Uncancelled: Cancelled just as its second season was closing out only to be announced as having been revived for the NBC streaming service Peacock a few months later.
  • Vindicated by Reruns: Despite low ratings in its run on NBC, the show gained a strong following on Hulu, and a post-cancellation campaign by fans and the creative team, encouraging new viewers to binge the show on Hulu before the first season was taken down, inspired the decision to uncancel the show and move it to NBC's own then-upcoming streaming platform, Peacock.
