- Ascended Fanon:
- The author often uses fan names for the recurring extras (the "incidentals") commonly found on fan sites and wikis. Though he doesn’t treat them as actual characters and only does this as a shorthand for which background extra is saying which line of dialogue in any given scene, as part of the Original Flavor style.
- The fan theory that the Krabby Patty formula is just a sham used by Mr. Krabs for free marketing is also made canon in "Truth or Square", and reaffirmed in "Plankton's Regular".
- What Could Have Been:
- "Atlantis Squarepantis" was originally just going to rewrite the ending to avoid Easily Forgiven, where, even after Lord Royal Highness adopted Plankton as Atlantis' new most sacred treasure, he would still have the protagonists arrested, since they were still guilty of destroying the world's oldest bubble and did nothing to stop Plankton, ending with them rotting in the Atlantean prison. But then the author realized that logically, if all of them were terrible singers, they wouldn’t have reached Atlantis in the first place, since the magic bus is fueled by song, leading to this becoming a "Shaggy Dog" Story.
- “Truth and Square” was originally just going to consist of its first third, that being Patchy learning how terrible the script for the special is and having a breakdown and running away in exactly the same way as in “The Sponge Who Could Fly”. The SpongeBob segment was also originally going to show Mr. Krabs meeting a shady dealer that provides him with “Poseidon powder”, the true secret ingredient that makes Krabby Patties highly addictive (which would also be a reference to an infamous misconception perpetuated on the internet), but the idea was nixed because the author thought it would be too immoral, even for Mr. Krabs.
- The author considered rewriting many other maligned episodes but felt creative burnout and struggled to come up with interesting rewrites for episodes that fell into specific categories (SpongeBob being Lethally Stupid, Squidward being The Chew Toy, Patrick being a Jerkass, etc.) due to their general homogeneity. He cited "Yours, Mine and Mine" as an example, since it was literally just SpongeBob and Patrick fighting over a toy and little else, a premise he found fundamentally unappealing.
- " WhoBob WhatPants?" (or "Whatever Happened to SpongeBob?") was originally going to be a more extensive rewrite, rather than the quick aversion of a "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot it ended up being, but the author couldn't think of much to do with this premise beyond lampshading the various plot holes and inconsistencies in it. He cited so many in his notes, that he eventually repurposed it for a wholly different fic, where Squidward and SpongeBob watch the especial in a Mystery Science Theater 3000 homage.
