Work

"Sad quote that's much less sad out of context."
  • Example for every single character death, including the unsympathetic villain and the death that was obviously a joke.
    • Badly-indented bullet point describing the characters' reaction to the death.
      • Extra Fridge Horror about how the death might affect some other characters who weren't there to see it.
    • Character's death. The position of the spoiler tag makes it obvious that it's about the character dying, not that spoilers are allowed on moments pages anyway.
  • Example about that time your favorite character was slightly unhappy.
  • Example for the sad moment of the work, usually a major Character Death.
    • Unnecessary detail regarding the scene.
    • Another unnecessary detail regarding the scene.
    • Sub-bullet about the dialogue in the scene.
    • Sub-bullet about the scene’s soundtrack.
    • Sub-bullet about how the other characters react.
    • Sub-bullet about the acting.
    • Fridge Horror regarding the scene.
    • Meta stuff that makes the scene sadder.
  • Example calling you a black-hearted monster if you didn't cry while watching it.
  • Example which tells you that if Moment A of some scene doesn't make you bawl, then the following Moment B certainly will.
  • Example which simply cannot be articulated. This moment was... gah! Just... gah!
  • Example that would fit better on Heartwarming Moments, but is listed here because This Troper cried Tears of Joy when it happened.
  • A spoilered example, even though Spoilers Off is in effect.
  • "Quote without context"
  • Example mentioning that it brought This Troper, his mom, and his cat to tears!
  • An example also listed in Heartwarming.Work Name.
  • Example about a Complete Monster being defeated, which is sad because it happened right when said villain was about to kill The Scrappy.
  • Example about a Complete Monster using Crocodile Tears to manipulate someone. They were only pretending to be sad, but if you take the scene out of context, ignoring all of the horrible things this villain has done and will go on to do, it superficially looks like an emotional moment, so it can count.

Meta

  • Gushy meta-example about the show being canceled after 27 seasons.
  • Example about some real person involved with the work passing away or going through hard times. Totally doesn't count as a Real Life example.
  • Meta-example claiming that it's sad people are stupid enough to like or have made this show.
  • Meta-example about how it's sad that some people don't like the show; surely the creators must be heartbroken seeing bad things being said about something they put so much effort into.
  • Meta example about the fact that the work exists.
  • Meta-example about the work not doing well critically and/or commercially.
  • Long list of every single death of anyone related to the work.
    • The film's second assistant director passed away in 2009 at the age of 102. He will be missed.
      • And we recently lost Alice A. Alberts, whose extra work on this film will be remembered forever.
  • Meta-example about the poor circumstances the work was started in.
  • Meta-example about someone who worked on the work leaving the crew.
