Tear-jerker moments in Thousand Shinji:
- Rei getting depressed because she knows even if she manages convincing Shinji and Asuka into becoming their lover she will always be second best.
- During the Bardiel incident Asuka lost her best friend when Gendo activated Unit 02's dummy plug and the drone crippled Touji and quartered Hikari. Then Shinji left, got absorbed into Unit 01 and when they sucked him out he was in a coma. Asuka spent those two months in constant pain, often weeping (and cringing because she cried blood). then she got Mind Raped by Arael and was in a coma. After waking up she faced the MP-Evas and despite of fighting like a berserker demon she got killed. In other words Asuka founds her happiness during the first half of the story... and all of it was taken from her.
- As Shinji was in a coma and Asuka breaking down Rei blamed herself for everything and hang herself. And Asuka found the corpse.
- After the deaths of Misato and Rei Shinji was completely broken. He pleaded Asuka waking up as he thought the only thing he really wanted was being loved and he would make anything to bring them back.
