For quite a bit of the story, you would think that The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious is similar to KonoSuba and for a long while it is. Then the plot gets turned on its head when a certain episode changes everything and this page is created in its wake.

Ep 10: This Man is Too Strong for Being So Old
- Even as Rosalie tries to reject having genuine parting words for her dying father, Seiya slaps some senses into her and mentions this one hell of a realistic line about family and death:Seiya: "Once he dies, he won't be able to hear you no matter how much you whine. Talk to him while he is still alive."
Ep 11: The Truth is Too Much to Bear
- This fricking episode. Do you think that all along we're getting a comedic isekai anime where a protagonist is pestered with a certain useless goddess that got no respect? (Haven't we heard that one before?). This episode's a gigantic Gut Punch that will shed new light on the show, with Seiya's past life: Aria summoned him as her hero and he was reckless as heck, only managing through with his sheer skill, finishing quests as fast as he could, with minimum information. This bit him back in the ass when he failed to get a piece of vital information on the resident Demon King — who can resurrect himself, once. Drained of their resources only on the first life, they were unprepared for the second life and Seiya witnessed his friends killed and devoured one by one, and he realized that his lover, Tiana, is carrying his unborn child and the Demon King makes it a special mention to devour both, in front of Seiya while he's futilely begging for him to stop. *sniff* This is not just a run-in-the-mill comedic isekai, that's for sure...
- What makes it even worse is Rista's subsequent breakdown after witnessing his past. As revealed further, she's Tiana reincarnated as a Goddess. By this point, the moniker 'Useless Goddess' can lose weight of comedy on her and instead look mean-spirited.
- One of the saddest things is just how different current Seiya is from past Seiya. Past Seiya is always smiling and happy compared to how grumpy current Seiya is. The trauma he suffered was so severe that it was written into his soul despite having lost his memories of his first summoning.
Ep 12: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious
- The scene where Seiya dies. While it may be a Disney Death, as revealed later, that doesn't make the scene any less heartbreaking. All of them, i.e. Rista, Mash, and Elulu are on the verge of tears as Rista desperately tries to heal him, in vain. Then, Seiya, finally dropping his cold facade, thanks Mash and Elulu for their help and both of them break down into tears. Heck, in his last moments he even gives the utterly heartbroken Rista a small hug, telling her that she's done more than enough. And it is then that he realizes that Rista is Princess Tiana, his lover in his past life. After the realization, for the first time in the series, he smiles after saying this one line:Seiya: "Thank goodness... this time, I was able to save you.."
- As for Rista, she just got back her memories and is now witnessing her husband's death.
