Tear Jerker / The Break-Up

Go To

The Break-Up is never meant to be a happy film. After all, it’s a film about, well, a break-up. All that said, one couldn’t expect it to get as sad as it does, right?

First Off seeing Brooke kick Gary off the bowling team. While it is kind of played for laughs (what with Gary walking out shirtless in a rage), you really can't help but feel bad for the guy, especially since, as Brooke later explains, the bowling team is his passion, it's what he loves and here she's manipulating him in a failed attempt to make him see sense.

Also seeing various pics of Gary and Brooke having fun as a couple and all at the beginning of the film, after meeting at the Cubs game, before we head into well, you know where it's going.
