- Marianne getting sexually assaulted after going to the fundraiser. What makes it worse is that she can't even maintain her Ice Queen facade afterwards and cries outside the club. Rachel's reaction does not help.
- Lorraine's "Reason You Suck" Speech to Connell in the car. Not only is it very startling to see a character so nice and friendly get so angry, she tells Connell he's a disgrace and gets out of the car to take the bus home in fury.
- Connell's Heel Realization at the debs after he has an awful time and leaves emotional voice messages on Marianne's phone, begging her to talk to him. Sadly the next episode's Time Skip confirms they didn't see each other for a while.
- Connell revealing months after their college break-up that he'd been intending to ask Marianne if he could live with her for the summer. Marianne responds he could have stayed with her, and the two realise how miserable they made each other over a simple misunderstanding.
- Rob's suicide and Connell's subsequent depression, particularly when he breaks down in a therapy session.
