Tear Jerker / Mashle: Magic and Muscles

Go To

  • The whole idea that non-magical people in this world are essentially treated like trash is horrible. Mash himself was abandoned as a baby for his lack of magical power and would've likely died on the streets if not for his adoptive father.
    • Regro Burndead was a low-ranking magician, and was so mocked for his low talent that he was going to kill himself before he found Mash.
    • Lance Crown is desperate to save his sick sister Anna, whom even her parents had given up on.
  • The Ames are left orphaned after their parents' sudden death, forcing them to move from house to house of relatives just to have a home, and later on living on the streets. As time passes, there's a huge raft between them, and it takes 113 chapters for them to mend their relationship.
    • Rayne has to take care of Finn at a young age, making him more like a parent than an older brother to the latter. He strives to become a Divine Visionary so that no one would suffer the same fate as him, but has to distance himself from Finn in an attempt to keep him safe from the political enemies he was making.
    • On Finn's end, he ended up interpreting his distance as Rayne being disappointed in him due to his lack of potential. Even after attending Easton and have a better life financially, he is constantly compared to Rayne with belittlement, and was a Bully Magnet before Mash arrives and threatens them for good.
  • Even the antagonists, who are all great wizards in their own right and should be adored for their power, are in some way screwed by the society they live in.
    • Abel was left orphaned despite him being naturally gifted and with a loving kind mother just because someone else envied them and hated his mother's idealism and killed her.
    • Abyss was granted an incredible technique via his left eye yet was shooed away by everyone for it, being called the Devil. Hell, his parents were going so far as to kill him for this too.
    • Domina Blowelive, despite being one of the most powerful wizards, is desperate for his father's approval that during his battle against Mash he descends into a pathetic Manchild.
