Tear Jerker / Lone Survivor

• Every single death in the film is a Tear Jerker. In some cases, the film being a Foregone Conclusion makes it sadder.
  • Dietz's death in particular; he's forced to lay there and watch the Taliban steal his wedding ring and toss aside the paper he'd been studying for when he gets home to help his wife remodel the house.
• The end of the movie, a montage of photos and video of the actual soldiers who died during the operation; it can be hard to watch, especially when showing the men with their families. Even critics who accused the film of being too much "flag-waving" acknowledged the respect they deserve.
