Tear Jerker / Horton Hears a Who! (2008)

• Horton is sad about Whoville destroyed.
• Horton trying to find his clover in a huge field of identical ones
  Horton: Knock-knock. (chuckles, whimpers) This is where you'd say "who's there" if there were any Whos there! Get it? "Who's there!" Heheh! (sobbing, babbling)
  • When he finally finds his precious clover, but there's no response. The wail of despair he lets out is just wrenching.
  Horton: Mayor, are you there? Mayor? (slumps to the ground) Mayor! (view of the shambled city as Horton's voice echoes through the pipe) Mayor, are you there? Mayor? Mayor? (cut back to the depressed Horton) Mayor? MAAAAAAAAYOOOOOOOOOOR!
• A Sympathy for the Devil instance occurs when the Whos are finally revealed to the other animals, and Sour Kangaroo is instantly shunned by the other animals (even her own son). Even Horton, her relentless victim the entire film, feels bad for the sight of her slumped over alone and ashamed, and makes a peace offering.
