In volume 14, Fear has to grapple with a lot of things in this volume, Konoha reverting back to Muramasa having no memories of the past 200 years, and Haruaki looking single-mindedly to rescue that he's willing to work with Lilyhowell and stain his hands with blood. Kirika is too immersed with to resolving things to get back Konoha quickly, so she can receive an answer from Harauki about her confession, making her no help. The mental strain proves so much that she's Driven to Suicide, making a secret attack at Nurashaaki alone, and is resigned to Konoha killing her. If not for Kuroe's interfering at the last minute, she would have died. Through this entire incident, Fear's been contemplating what Konoha means to her and their relationship. She never finds a concrete answer, but is sure that Konoha has become an important person in her heart. What makes this heartbreaking is that later volumes show that Konoha clearly does not feel the same way towards her and just sees her as a nuisance and an obstacle for Haruaki's affections.
Haruaki and Fear's farewell before he inserts the final indulgence disk, and she shuts down. Fear's unwavering resolve to accept her fate, because she wants to stay by Haruaki's side as one who lifted her curse, even if it's just as a lifeless cube, combined with Haruaki being reduced to tears not wanting to be unable to talk to her again makes for one emotional exchange of dialogue and intimacy.
