Tear Jerker / Civilian Pianist

  • A moment caught between Heartwarming and Tearjerker, but Kakashi's entire breakdown in Chapter 13. Sakumo's distance is shown to be really affecting him. Tomoko can only hug him and say comforting words as the Chunin breaks down in what might be his first crying session in his entire career as a ninja.
Kakashi: "... You can't see me, right?"
Tomoko: "... I can't, but Kakashi-kun, you don't have to follow the ninja rulebook here. It's true that in the field, Rule #25 says that 'shinobi must never show their tears', but you're not in the field right now. You're here with me in Nagareboshi, and it's okay to not be a shinobi here. It's okay to be human - no one's going to judge you. I will never judge you."
Kakashi: "..." [starts Cry into Chest]
  • The entire aftermath of Chapter 18. Tomoko nearly dying from strangulation, Hikari and Judai getting the first big scare of their lives as parents, and Team Minato left unsure on what to do. Even MINATO was freaked out by this!
    • Tomoko's mental checklist after going through the whole thing doesn't help anything. Who could blame her for crying afterwards?
One. Someone decided to start going on a drunken rampage when I was handling a song request.
Two. That same someone insulted everything I as well as the entirety of Nagareboshi stood for, cursing it all in the most ugliest way possible.
Three. That person tried to kill me. Whether it was from a drunken rage or not, the residual pain on my neck was still there.
Four. Dad showed off exactly how powerful he was with that one move, even if I could only see it for a split second. Even as a retired ninja, he still had chakra.
Five. I had almost died. After dying once, I almost went away again. Before accomplishing anything I meant to do. Before even saving Team Minato from Kannabi and the possibility of Kurama's rampage.
Before Naruto was even born, I had almost died.
And at the time, I couldn't do anything about it.
To conclude, I basically went through what could be considered absolute hell in civilian standards, and left trembling in the house with the rest of Team Minato, being asked if I was 'okay' ?
  • Chapter 42: After a Curbstomp Battle on Team Minato's parts from Judai of all people, the retired ninja then decides to take them somewhere. Specifically, the Memorial Stone where Johan Anderson's name is carved. The fact that we hear a bit of Judai's backstory is hard enough, but knowing that Judai lost a loved one to where he didn't talk about Johan for 13 years says a lot.
  • Chapter 44: Obito doesn't get under the rock, but he still loses his left arm to Kakko anyways. Crosses with Moment of Awesome when Obito more than returns the favor by blinding Kakko with his own blood before throwing an Explosive Tag right in the guy's face.
  • The entirety of the first half of Chapter 48, where Obito breaks down about his Arm And A Leg status to Tomoko. The Uchiha may have gotten out of Kannabi alive, but the loss is still there.
  • Discussed in Chapter 45 and onwards, the whole Love Triangle/chain going on between Tomoko, Kakashi, Rin, and Obito. Tomoko worried about the whole situation in previous chapters, but it is only with the end of Kannabi that it becomes obvious that something needs to be done. Not helped by how the author hints towards Tomoko's past self experiencing a similar problem and not having the best of endings. Despite Tomoko's best efforts, Rin runs away from Team Minato at the end of Chapter 50 for a while, heartbroken.
