Tear Jerker / Betsy-Tacy

• Mrs. Poppy mentions that she likes to have Betsy and her friends over for games and sweets because she had a daughter who died very young, whom the girls remind her of.
• Mentioned in the YMMV page where Betsy worries about her European friends when World War 1 begins. Knowing what a horrible mess Europe will be in the future leads to an unintentional Tearjerker for the reader. One reviewer says it best:
