Tear Jerker / Banished from the Hero's Party

Go To

  • The Hero's Party collapses with Gideon's departure, as he was the glue that bound it together. Despite her repressed emotions, Ruti is miserable with him gone. Danan and Theodora in particular feel awful for having criticized his combat skills when he was with him, with Danan leaving to find him.
  • It goes From Bad to Worse, the party completely implodes not just because of Ares but also because of Theodora. She aids Ares to bring Ruti back to the Party to fight the Demon Lord despite knowing that Ruti loathes her blessing and wants to be a normal person.
  • Later, Theodora explains her realization that, in Ruti's eyes, the entire party had become just as much a hindrance as Ares had regarded Gideon. This is why, much as she wanted to personally, Ruti never tried to seek out Gideon in the name of keeping the party together. As far as her blessing was concerned, there was no point in preventing the party from splitting apart.
  • Episode 10 of the anime puts Ruti's story into focus and why she's such a tragic character. While sharing a bath with Rit and Tisse, she finally opens up about her past and blessing. Like how when she was a child and still weak, her blessing forced her to fight to save others despite knowing she couldn't win and her life was in danger. Or how she knew the people she saved often talked about her like she was a monster behind her back but never failed to seek out her help. Not only that, but her blessing robs her of simple pleasures such as sleep, feeling the warmth of a bath, or tasting her favorite drink. But above all, her emotions were dulled to the point that she could only hold on to how she remembered feeling in the past which made her hate how Rizlet was able to so easily show emotion and grow closer to Gideon. She never wanted to be the hero, she wanted to be a normal girl.
  • As a “bonus”, Ruti’s Blessing is a Supernatural Fear Inducer, to the point where even friends and strangers recoil if she’s too close. Demonstrated when Ruti tries to pet Mr. Crawly-Wawly, only for Tisse, the party member that most admires Ruti, to leap back, draw her sword, and beg Ruti not to hurt him.
