Tear Jerker / Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

• The tragic history of King Atlan and his brother Kordax: Atlan pleaded with Kordax to stop mining oricalchum, but Kordax felt his bother was envious of his success and decided to start a civil war between Necrus and Atlantis.
  • When Kordax is sealed in ice, Atlan is remorseful at his deed. He can't heal his brother, but he can't let him run wild either: imprisonment for eternity was the best option he had.
• Black Manta abducts Arthur Jr. His parents are absolutely devastated by the incident.
• While Orm has taken his imprisonment with some stoicness, the climax has Kordax possess him and he reveals his deep-set issues over being usurped by Arthur, who didn't even want the throne to start with and is making a mess of things in his view.
• Dr. Shin just wanted to prove to the world that Atlantis exists, and basically stayed with Black Manta because he was the only one that not only confirms his theories but is willing to help him find more evidence. In his first appearance in the film, it’s clear that Shin is having second thoughts in working with Manta, as he mentions in his audio journal that he’s afraid of what might happen to him if he fails to fine any existing Atlantean relics. As he slowly realizes that Manta plans to kill Aquaman and destroy everything he holds dear, Shin is in way too deep to just walk out.
