In general
  • Every time a creator passes, such as Osamu Tezuka and Tadao Nagahama, Animage includes a tribute to them, highlighting their contributions to the anime industry.
August 1985 issue
  • There are many drawings of the titular unnamed girl from Angel's Egg by Yoshitaka Amano, that depict her as happy and having fun, something she never got to do in the original anime due to her responsibility to the egg.
August 1978 issue
  • The "Prince Heinel forever" special. It's a six page tribute dedicated to Prince Heinel from Voltes V, and bemoans how Heinel was ultimately a Tragic Villain. One page even has him looking aghastly at a dying Katherine, holding her as he realized she was in love with him all along, and vice versa. The final page of the tribute has Heinel staring at his newfound father, surrounded by fires and destruction, as he accepts death.
    • And it becomes even sadder when you remember his final words in the anime.
    Heinel: "Dad...!"
August 1979 issue
  • One issue has the often-cheerful Kazuya staring longingly at Erika in his Imagine Spot.
October 1987 issue
  • Lala in this poster is depicted dying and reincarnating, in the middle of Char and Amuro, referencing how she was dear to both of them even though they were on opposing sides.
November 1987 issue
  • This poster. Lala is in the center, with a grim expression on her face, while both Char and Amuro have their eyes on her. As if to help her, Amuro extends his hand, but she can only look at Char, which is a reference to how she followed him blindly in the anime and paid the price for it.
