All the child-characters in the future-set stories are described as strongly resembling their parents in one way or another (usually one parent more than the other) in After the Jungle.
- In the case of Arnold and Helga's kids:
- Andy's the one who looks the most like Arnold, especially since he's the only one to have inherited Arnold's signature head-shape. It seems like the only real differences between Arnold and Andy's physical appearances are their eye colors (Andy has blue eyes like his mom instead of green eyes like his dad) and their hair (while the whole family has blonde hair, Andy's hair is the same shade/type as his mom).
- Like Andy for Arnold, Megan (of the Shortman-siblings) is the one that looks the most like Helga, with the only real differences apparently being their eye color (Megan has green eyes like Arnold instead of blue eyes like Helga) and their hair (Megan's blonde hair is the same shade/type as her dad's hair).
- Henry, compared to his siblings, looks more like a mix of their parents—Henry looks enough like both Arnold and Helga where you can tell that they're his parents, and (just like Megan) Henry's got green eyes like Arnold instead of blue eyes like Helga does. Overall, Henry's described as looking a lot like Arnold, but with Helga's head-shape instead of the oblong-shaped head that his older brother and their dad have.
- Arnie and Lila's son, Arnie Junior ("AJ" for short), looks like a younger version of his dad but with Lila's freckles as well as her smile—he's also got the same oblong-shaped head as Arnie Senior, Arnold and Andy.
- Logan and Lisa (Olga's fraternal twins) look like younger versions of their mom—the only real differences being that the twins both have dark hair and green eyes (like their dad) instead of blonde hair and blue eyes (like their mom).
- Kiara and Kiki (Gerald and Phoebe's daughters) seem to take more after their mom but look enough like Gerald where you can tell that he's their dad—Kiara and Kiki both have Gerald's skin tone and Kiara also has curly hair like their dad (instead of straight hair like their mom).
- Courtney (Rhonda and Curly's daughter) is described as looking pretty much identical to her mom, just younger—in fact, in "A Trip through Time," Helga (upon meeting Courtney) figures that if she's not Rhonda's daughter, then she must be a clone.
- Adam (Harold and Pattie's son) is described as looking pretty much identical to his dad, just younger and with some minor physical differences (like having his mom's hair color/type and his mom's nose).
- Bonnie (Burt and Connie's oldest daughter) and Maritza (Tommy and Maria's oldest daughter) are stated as looking pretty much identical to their moms, just younger and with some minor physical differences.
- Bonnie has her dad's curly brown hair.
- Maritza has her dad's eye color and hair color/type.
- Ernie and Lola's daughters are all described as looking pretty much identical to their mom (a former fashion model), just younger and with some minor physical differences like hair color/type, height or skin tone (and it's usually something they inherited from their dad).
- Morgan Jones, Suzie's son through her second husband, Franklin Jones, is described as looking like a younger/more masculine version of his mom, but with his dad's eyes and nose.
- This trope is very much averted with Keisha and her brothers, who are the children of Eugene Horowitz and his husband, Brandon—Keisha and her brothers are stated to have been adopted (rather than being born through something like artificial insemination), so they obviously wouldn't resemble either of their parents.
- Phillip "Phil" Martin Shortman, Andy and Kiara's son, looks like a younger version of his dad (including having blonde hair and a football-shaped head) but with his mom's skin tone.
