Ridiculously Successful Future Self / After the Jungle Series

Go To

A lot of the characters have fairly successful careers as adults in After the Jungle.

  • Arnold's a top anthropologist/college professor who works at Hillwood University—and as an anthropologist, Arnold works with cultures from all over the world and seems to travel quite a bit for his job. While his exact area of specialization hasn't been revealed, Arnold's anthropology work (as a whole) seems to focus primarily on Latin American Studies—he's most well-known for his work with the Green-Eyed People of San Lorenzo (the country that he was born in).
  • Helga, after she and Arnold became a couple back in middle school, stopped hiding her talent for writing and embraced her passion for it—as an adult, she's become a top-selling/award-winning poet, novelist and short story writer (specializing in romance literature). While all of her literary works are very good, her most well-known work is Cecile, which, by the time Henry's a year old, has become a series with at least ten books—the first book in Helga's Cecile-series was published sometime either before or after Helga became pregnant with Andy, when she was in her early/mid-20snote . Also, Helga works for a publishing firm called Wright & Tate Publishing, which, according to "The Graduation" (the one-shot that details the day Helga graduated from college), is one of the top publishers in the United States.
  • Gerald's old friend, Fuzzy Slippers, eventually started his own company (based in the Hillwood-area) which has become very successful. Gerald gets a job at said company, where he ultimately becomes a high-ranking executive.
  • Phoebe ultimately becomes the head scientist/researcher at a robotics lab/corporation based in the Hillwood-area.
  • Rhonda ends up becoming a fashion designer with her own fashion house (which is based in Hillwood).
  • Curly (who ends up becoming Rhonda's husband) becomes a renowned artist as an adult, particularly when it comes to stuff like sculpting and photography. Also, while he's still pretty eccentric as an adult, he's not nearly as "crazy" as he was in his and Arnold's youth (thanks in part to a bunch of counseling/therapy he got in middle and high school).
  • Mr. Green (the butcher who ran Green Meats and who got elected to city council in "Mr. Green Runs") has become the mayor of Hillwood by the time Arnold and Helga's oldest son, Andy, is in 4th-grade—also, Harold had taken over the butcher shop (which is still called "Green Meats") since Mr. Green retired (and business is still as good as ever).
  • As adults, Andy becomes a professional athlete (even managing to compete at the Olympics more than once) while Kiara (who ultimately becomes Andy's wife) becomes a physician and Megan becomes the CEO of a media corporation based in New York City.
