Shout Out / Ralph Breaks the Internet

Go To

  • In Litwak's arcade, Ralph and Vanellope play TRON, based on the first movie that featured computer software as characters.
  • In the eBay scene, one of the things that can be seen up for bidding is the Magic Lamp. So can the Triforce.
  • An Expy of the MapleStory Mushroom Mascot is shown on a large advertisement in the 2nd official trailer.
  • The "I Can Has Cheezburger?" meme is shown on the side of a building when Vanellope and Ralph initially start to explore the internet.
  • Ralph is shown doing the Floss dance, popularized by Fortnite, on a human's tablet. A shot of Fortnite is also briefly shown on Yesss' assistant's tablet when he mentions gameplay videos.
  • Slaughter Race's MMO and on-foot elements evoke Grand Theft Auto Online, but its general aesthetic and car combat refer to old games in that genre, like Twisted Metal, Need for Speed, or Vigilante 8.
  • When Shank first appears on camera, she gets a splash screen similar to those from Borderlands or Need for Speed: Most Wanted's rival introduction cutscenes.
  • Shank, played by Gal Gadot of The Fast and the Furious fame, is a slightly more tomboyish version of Gadot's character Giselle in that franchise.
  • After reobtaining her car from Ralph and Vanellope, we see Shank drive off and do a flying jump through a grade crossing over a speeding train, a la The Fast and the Furious again.
  • Pyro expels non-burning gasses into Ralph's face at one point to make a viral video. An extended form of the air blast ability of Team Fortress 2's own Pyro.
  • Yesss has a YouTube Gold Play Button on her office wall.
  • The scene where Vanellope is chased by Stormtroopers includes a part of the Imperial March.
  • Jaws: The shark in Slaughter Race is shown to have swallowed the same license plate as from the live-action film.
  • Ralph channels Bob Ross in one of his viral videos.
  • Before the Princesses change into their casual wear, a 1960s Batman-style transition with the Disney castle in place of the Batman insignia appears, complete with Neal Hefti's music.
  • Vanellope finishes her "Oh Steering Wheel" song with, "Boop", like Betty Boop whose trademarks included her little-girl sounding voice.
  • The climax will give you King Kong flashbacks.
  • When thanking him, Ralph calls Naveen "Frogger".
  • After Ralph is rescued by the princesses and thanks them, Moana says "You're welcome", in homage to Maui's catchphrase.
  • Double Dan's body shape is quite reminiscent of Jabba the Hutt.
  • Spamley asks Ralph and Vanellope to "step into [his] parlor" and when Ralph asks him if the place is his website, he emphasizes the "web" part.
  • The soundtrack has two separate tracks titled "Separate Ways" and "Worlds Apart".
  • The animals in the girl's game in the trailer are a a blue cat and a pink rabbit. In addition, the pink rabbit becomes very fat, much like Richard Watterson, when it is being stuffed with pancakes. The unseen ending of the scene is impled by the girl's reaction as the bunny going the same way as Mr Creosote in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life.
  • The ending credits feature dozens of different app icons:
    • Two of them are a cartoon Grumpy Cat and a pink coily poop straight out of Dr. Slump, with a slightly modified design.
    • A third one depicts Mickey Mouse as an Expy of Trollface.
