Upgrades

• The "Ultimadrill" upgrade's accompanying quote is a reference to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann:
  "Pierce the heavens, etc."
  • As is the Salmon Roe egg.
  "Do the impossible, see the invisible. Roe roe, fight the power?"
• The Flavor Text for the Quintillion Fingers upgrade is a direct quote from Boomhauer. It gets pretty hilarious if you remember the context of the original quote; you probably know why the hands are so effective now.
  Yeah man, I tell ya what, man, that dang ol' internet, man, you just go in on there and point and click, talk about w-w-dot-w-com, mean you got nekkid chicks on there, man, just go click, click, click, click, click, its real easy, man.
• The Kitten Workers upgrade has the Flavor Text "meow meow meow meow," a probable reference to the four-descending-notes jingle of "Meow Mix" cat food.
• The "Flux Capacitors" Time Machine upgrade is a pretty obvious reference to Bake To The Future... Er, Back to the Future.
• One upgrade for the portals is called "Sanity dance":
  'We can change if we want to. we can leave our brains behind.'
• One Time Machine upgrade is called "Time Paradox Resolver" and the description states: "No more fooling around with your own grandmother!".
• Several from the Halloween cookies:
  • Bat Cookie: "The cookies this town deserves."
  • Eyeball Cookie: "When you stare into the cookie, the cookie stares back at you."
  • Spider Cookie: "You found the recipe on the web. They do whatever a cookie can."
• The 'Chocolate Monolith' upgrade for interplanetary shipping: "My god, it's full of chocolate bars!"
• The final Santa upgrade: "My name is Claus, king of kings; look on my toys, ye Mighty, and despair!"
• From the Christmas Cookies:
  • Christmas Tree Biscuits: "Whose pine is it anyway?"
  • Present Biscuits are stated to be the prequel to Future Biscuits, referencing the ghosts of Christmas from A Christmas Carol
• The Festive Hat upgrade: "Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse."
• The last line of the Heavenly Chip Secret flavor text is "It's a secret to everyone", a reference to The Legend of Zelda
• The Jaffa Cake cookie upgrade makes reference to the Yogscast Tekkit series, Jaffa Factory.
  "If you want to bake a cookie from scratch, you must first build a factory."
  • Also a reference to Carl Sagan's quote:
    "If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe."
• The Flavor Text for the first Prism upgrade, "Gem Polish," concludes with "Truly, truly outrageous."
• The eclipse cookie's flavor text "look to the cookie" comes from Seinfeld, where Jerry appeals to Elaine to see a half-black, half-white cookie as a metaphor for racial harmony.
• The madeleine cookie's flavour text, "Unforgettable", references Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu.
• The Duck Egg upgrade of the Easter season has the flavour text ''Then he waddled away."
• The Bunny Biscuit upgrade has a reference to Watership Down. The icon also looks like The Black Rabbit of the film version, although obviously much more cheery.
  "All the world will be your enemy, and when they catch you they will kill you... But first they must catch you."
• The Improbability drive is an upgrade for the Chancemaker buildings, which is fittingly described as "recommended by the Grandmother's Guide to the Bakery."
  • In addition, one of the Shipment building upgrades is called "Restaurants at the End of the Universe".
• The flavor text for the "Maddening Chants" Portal upgrade references the infamous Moonbase Alpha memes based around the game's text-to-speech feature.
• One of the most expensive kitten upgrades is called "Kitten assistants to the regional manager".
• The description for the "Wishalloy Mouse" upgrade:
  "Clicking is fine and dandy, but don't smash your mouse over it. Get your game on. Go play."
• The "Winning Lottery Ticket" upgrade's description is a reference to Fallout: New Vegas:
  What lottery? THE lottery, that's what lottery! Only lottery that matters!
• The "Kitten Angels" heavenly upgrade's description states that "All cats go to heaven".
• The flavor text for one of the Shipment upgrades reads "To boldly bake" in an obvious reference to the opening speech from Star Trek: The Original Series.
  • A later upgrade, also for the Shipments, is called "The Final Frontier."
• "Box of not cookies" includes Wookies, with flavor text "These aren't the cookies you're looking for."
• From the description of "Putri salju":
  A beloved Indonesian pastry; its name means "snow princess", for the powdered sugar it's coated with. Had we added these to Cookie Clicker some years ago, this is where we'd make a reference to that one Disney movie, but it's probably time to let it go.
• The seventh Mine upgrade, Planetsplitter.
  "These new state-of-the-art excavators have been tested on Merula, Globort, Flwanza VI, among other distant planets which have been curiously quiet lately."
• The first Chancemaker upgrade, Your Lucky Cookie:
  "This is the first cookie you've ever baked. It holds a deep sentimental value and, after all this time, an interesting smell."
• The "Unshackled temples" Heavenly Upgrade has the flavor text "You could make a religion out of this."
• The Glucosmium Portal Upgrade is named Portal Guns.
• The cookie upgrade Steamed Cookies references the Steamed Hams meme from The Simpsons.
  "Localized entirely within this gaming platform? Yes!"
• The Undecillion Fingers upgrade's flavor text:
  "Whatever you touch turns to dough in your clutch."
• The "War of the Gods" upgrade's flavor text states "An interesting game; the only winning move is not to pray."
• The chancemakers upgrade "Four-leaf clover field" has the description "No giant monsters here, just a whole lot of lucky grass."
• The "Turbo-charged soil" debug upgrade has the description "It's got electrolytes!"
• The "Elder Spice" heavenly upgrade has the description "The cookie your cookie could smell like."
• The "Eye of the wrinkler" heavenly upgrade fittingly has the description "Just a wrinkler and its will to survive. Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry."
• The description for "The stuff rationale" is lifted directly from Xavier: Renegade Angel's "Fiddelin" informercial: "If not now, when? If not it, what? If not things... stuff?"

• One of the achievements is titled "Quantum Conundrum".
• The achievement for building 1 portal is "A whole new world", referencing the song from Aladdin.
• Achievement for building 50 portals is "Now you're thinking."
• The achievement for having 100 cursors is "Of Mice and Men", a reference to the Steinbeck novel of the same name.
• The achievement for having 100 alchemy labs is "Gold Member", referencing the third Austin Powers movie.
• The quote on the "Nihilism" achievement: "There are many things that need to be erased."
• The description for the "Get Lucky" achievement references Daft Punk's song "Get Lucky":
  "You've been up all night, didn't you?"
• The achievement for having 150 Shipments is "Type II civilization," a reference to the Kardashev scale.
• As of Version 1.0417, the Mine-related achievement "Never dig down" is a reference to one of the things you shouldn't do in Minecraft.
• The achievement for making 1 septillion cookies just from prisms is called "Praise the sun".
• The achievement for having 250 grandmas is "The old never bothered me anyway".
• The achievement Realm of the Mad God is a shout out to the videogame of the same name.
• The achievement for buying 400 cursors is "Dr. T."
• The achievement for buying 500 cursors, "Thumbs, phalanges, metacarpals", has the flavor text, ''& KNUCKLES''.
• The 350 grandma achievement is "To Oldly Go."
  • And the achievement for making 1 octillion cookies from fractal engines is "The Needs of the Many".
• Once your grandmas produce 10 quintillion cookies by themselves you unlock the "Gushing Grannies" achievement. There's also a grandma named "Gusher".
• The 300 temple achievement is "Wololo," from the sound priests would make when trying to convert enemies in Age of Empires I.
• The achievement for baking 100 octillion cookies is "He who controls the cookies controls the universe". The milk must flow.
• The achievement for baking 1 quadrillion cookies a second is "Turbopuns" with the description "Mother Nature will be like slowwwww dowwwwwwn."
• The achievement for baking 10 sexdecillion cookies per second is "Everything happens so much", a quote from Horse_ebooks.
• The achievement for building 300 time machines references the "Ricky and Morty forever and ever" rant from the pilot episode of Rick and Morty.
• An update for the game's fifth anniversary added, among other things, a series of building achievements that are all references to "All Star" by Smash Mouth (All of them fittingly for having 500 of a building, starting with "Sharpest Tool in the Shed" at 500 farms).
  • There is also the "So much to do so much to see" shadow achievement for having a cookie legacy at least a year old.
• The achievement for owning 350 portals is "He Comes", referencing the Zalgo mythos. It's even rendered in Zalgo text in-game!
• The achievement for making 100 sextillion cookies from clicking is "All the other kids with the pumped up clicks."
• Achievements for the Wizard Tower included A Wizard is You (with the flavor text "I'm a what?") and "Bibidi-babadi-boo."
• The achievement for owning 250 chancemakers is called "Ever in your favor."
• The achievement for owning 300 chancemakers, "Be a Lady," is taken from "Luck Be a Lady."
• Reaching one duodecillion cookies per second earns you the "Bake him away, toys" achievement, referring to The Simpsons episode "Cape Feare".
• Harvesting a bifurcated sugar lump gives the achievement "Sugar sugar".
• The Achievement for 100 Quindecillion Cookies per second is called I am speed.
• The Achievement for 650 Time Machines is called But the future refused to change.
• For the "You" building, which are clones of the player:
  • The "Episode II" achievement for owning 150 You comes from Star Wars II – Attack of the Clones.
  • The achievement for having 400 You is called "Army Of Me" after the song from Phineas and Ferb.
  • The "Know thyself" achievement for owning 450 You comes from Inside Out.
  • The "Despite everything, it's still you" achievement for owining 600 You is a quote from Undertale.
  • The achievement for owning 650 You is called Everything Everywhere All at Once.
• For owning one cortex baker, the achievement "It's Big Brain Time" is awarded.
• For owning 250 cortex bakers, the achievement "A trademarked portmanteau of 'imagination' and 'engineering'" references Disney's "imagineering" branding.

• Upgrading temples to level 10 yields the achievement "It Belongs in a Bakery."

• Owning a combined total of 777 grandams and cursors gives the achievement "The elder scrolls", with the description "Let me guess. Someone stole your cookie."

• One cookie milestone in particular is a reference to the Milkshake song by Kelis:
  "Your cookies brings all the boys to the yard."
• I'll say one word, just one: "cookies".
• The following news message is a reference to a memetic edit of a hentai doujinshi made on 4chan:
  News: elves sabotage radioactive frosting factory, turn hundreds blind in vicinity - "Who in their right mind would do such a thing?" laments outraged mayor.
• One of the news ticker headlines is a shout-out to the Spiders Georg meme, specifically referencing the infamous "average person eats 3 spiders a year" post.
  "News: 'average person bakes [cookies baked/7.3 billion] cookies a year' factoid actually just statistical error; [Bakery], who has produced [cookies baked] cookies in their lifetime, is an outlier and should not have been counted."

Miscellaneous

• The Grandma icon◊ and another status update quote is referencing an image macro meme◊ based on the movie The Master of Disguise:
  "Moist cookies."

• The icon for the "Meme" building during Business Day (actually the Wizard Tower) is a cookie-themed take on two different memes depending on the version: In the browser version, it's Pepe the Frog, while on the Steam version it's the Nyan Cat (albeit with a cookie in place of a Pop-Tart).
• The Easter grandma skin is a grandma wearing a stupid bunny suit.
• Many of the grandma names are this, which is a given since they're suggested by Patreon supporters. These include:
