Mille is a Danish Tween Drama series, consisting of 10 episodes that were originally aired on the channel DR1 in February 2009 and have since been rerun a few times.

The titular Mille is your average 12-year-old girl who's best friends with her classmate Marie. The two girls have been auditioned to perform at their school's annual summer concert with their self-written song Venner Forever ("Friends Forever").

Unfortunately, fate will have it differently. One day, when cycling home from school, Marie has forgotten her bike helmet, and she and Mille cycle right in front of a distracted driver. Mille gets out of the accident with relatively light injuries, but when she wakes up at the hospital, she is told the horrible news that Marie died in the accident.

The series then follows Mille's grief and attempts to get back to a normal life after the loss of her best friend. However, the road towards that goal is filled with obstacles, such as Mille's troubled home life with divorced parents and her being forced to do group work with Tobias, the outcast weirdo of the class. But is Tobias really such an outcast weirdo after all?

Tropes:

  • Death of a Child: One of the most iconic examples in recent Danish television, with a 12-year-old girl being killed in a traffic incident, something that caused quite an uproar with many viewers when the first episode aired.
  • Downer Beginning: A huge one given that Mille loses her best friend in a traffic accident.
  • First-Episode Twist: Marie's death at the end of the first episode will be very shocking to anyone who watches the series without having heard of it before, and yet it sets up the main premise of the rest 9 episodes.
  • Held Back in School: Part of Tobias's outcast status is that he was held back one year - this fact just makes him even more of a Bully Magnet by his peers. His actor is also a couple years older than the rest of the child cast.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Mille and Tobias have become very close by the end of the series and are fully comfortable to perform Venner Forever with each other. Even so, the Ship Tease among them is minimal (even though they are regularly accused of dating by their peers.
