"Don't be sad and lonely if you need someone to hold your hand. Me and my monsters can!"
The final verse in the show's theme song

Me and My Monsters is an Australian/British children's comedy show created with the use of puppets from The Jim Henson Company, combining said puppetry with live action.

Australian family, the Carlsons have just moved into an idyllic street in England. The son of the family, Eddie however one day discovers and befriends three monsters who have been residing in the house's basement long before even the Carlson family moved in. Knowing how badly the rest of the family will react to learning of the monsters living among them, Eddie initially attempts to keep the monsters a secret until he feels ready to tell them. Despite his best efforts, the monsters do get found out and even though the family, (mostly Eddie's father, Nick) originally attempt to send the monsters away, they end up living with them regardless, thus making the Carlson family bigger.

The series would first air on CBBC on October 2010 before airing on Network Ten and Nickelodeon.

This series contains examples of:

  • The Ditz: All three monsters are this, having only a small understanding of the concept of the human world with Haggis being the most ditziest of the bunch.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite having mostly contempt and disdain for them, Angela has had some moments that reveal that she does genuinely care about Eddie and the monsters.
    • She doesn't hesitate to call Nick out on abandoning the monsters in the woods in the first season finale, calling it cruel.
    • The subplot of "Swap Fever" has her caring for Norman after accidentally dropping a heavy trunk on him and breaking his leg, even admitting that it was her fault.
  • Gasshole: Haggis has a tendency to pass gas, usually at the wrong time.
  • Gentle Giant: Despite being bigger than everyone in the Carlson family and capable of swallowing things whole, Haggis is the most sensitive and passive of the monsters which becomes a staple in one of the episodes.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: Norman is the only one of the monsters who doesn't speak English, his language instead being composed of gibberish mixed with noise imitations. Haggis and Fiend however are somehow able to understand what he's saying.
  • Laugh Track: The show uses these, presumably to give it a sitcom-style approach.
  • Only Sane Man: Nick (and sometimes Angela) shows shades of this, often finding the concept of sharing a house with monsters unorthodox at best.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Lampshaded by Nick in "Bogey Brothers" when the monsters end up annoying him too many times when he just wanted a whole stress free day.
Nick: I asked you to say in the basement but you won't LISTEN. You never LISTEN! You just POKE, and PROD, and PUSH! Well, congratulations...! You finally did it. Every man has his limit... and you've found mine. (Beat) I've FINALLY SNAPPED!!!
