The titular brothers, Baloo Tupé and Flint-Kalle

Bröderna Fluff (lit.: The Fluff Brothers) is a Swedish TV series created by Fredde Granberg of "Hem till midgård" fame, premiering in 1997. A reboot came out in 2013.

The titular brothers Fluff, Järry and Pärry, work as detectives in the hair-obsessed city of Fönköping. Their arch-enemy, the bald Flint-Kalle, wants to obtain a hairdo/take the brother's hair away from them by any means necessary, and does so by stealing all the cotton candy, extorting the city by stealing all their toilet paper, summoning genies, creating robot hairstylists, etc.

Tropes

  • '80s Hair: There's an entire hockey team rocking mullets as a Visual Pun that gets lost in translation, as many Swedes call the hairstyle "hockeyfrilla" which literally means "hockey hairdo".
  • Afro Asskicker: The titular brothers.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: In one episode, Flint-Kalle builds a robot hairstylist to cut the brother's hair. The robot falls in love with a coffee machine instead.
  • Arch-Nemesis: Flint-Kalle (Or an ancestor) is the villain in practically every episode.
  • Ass Pullinvoked: Parodied in one episode with the line: "Suddenly, as an easy solution to the script, Pärry appeared!"
  • Bait-and-Switch: "There was only one man who could help them now... But since he had moved out of town, Baloo would have to do."
  • Baldness Angst: Flint-Kalle. His main motivation it not to be bald anymore.
  • Bald of Evil: Flint-Kalle, of course.
  • Beehive Hairdo: Barbroo rocks one.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: "I'm glad you did, otherwise there wouldn't be much of a plot in this episode!"
  • The Cameo: Flint-Kalle has a framed picture of Vargen from Bamse in his lair, and Baloo has a framed picture of Skalman from the same series in his saloon.
  • Christmas Episode: "The mystery of Santa's missing beard and hair"
  • City of Adventure: Nearly all episodes take place in the hair-obsessed city of Fönköping.
  • Comically Missing the Point: The brothers do this constantly.
  • Cool Shades: The amount of time the brothers has been without their shades are easy to count.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Flint-Kalle hams it up just as much as anyone else.
  • Generation Xerox: The character's ancestors in medevial times or in the wild west are identical to their modern counterparts, only with slightly different clothing.
  • Girls Have Cooties: The premise of one episode- Flint-Kalle kidnaps two girls to extract cooties from them to make the brothers sick. The situation is solved with boy cooties.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Averted. The show uses words such as "Shit" and "damn" which is less taboo in Sweden.
  • Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow: Flint-Kalle had a small, silly hairdo in his youth. Losing it due to a failed experiment was his Start of Darkness.
  • Hurricane of Puns/ Incredibly Lame Pun: There are puns all over the place, often related to hair.
  • Improbable Weapon User: The brother's main weapons are hair dryers.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Flint-Kalle often gets a taste of this.
  • Manchild: The mayor of Fönköping.
  • Once per Episode: Someone namedrops "Bröderna Fluff!" right before the intro plays.
  • Only Sane Man: Baloo.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Used often.
  • Punny Name: Many characters, such as Flint-Kalle (whose name is one letter away from "flintskalle", "baldy"), Anders i flaskan (a play on "Anden i flaskan", Genie in a Bottle), nd Permanette (probably named after "permanent", which when used as a verb refers to permanently dying your hair). Even the town name Fönköping counts as this, as it is one letter away from the real-life town Jönköping while incorporating the word for hair dryer ("fön").
  • Slapstick: The show practically runs on cartoon physics and sound effects.
  • Rapid Hair Growth: More like jumpcut hair growth!
  • Scare Chord: Used liberally.
  • Single-Minded Twins: There's almost nothing distinguishing the two brothers from eachother, and they are rarely seen apart.
  • Super Villain Lair: The diabolical bald-castle.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: Flint-Kalle seemingly loves pear soda.
  • World of Ham: most of the characters are pretty exaggerated.
