They may have have taken their sigil from Old King Andahar, as the ferry boat at Harroway is referred to as the king's two-headed water horse.
The Rootes possibly acquired Lord Harroway's Town after the extinction of House Harroway of Harrenhal.

- Bit Character: Ser Lymond Lynderly, who attends the tournament to select the members of the Brotherhood of Winged Knights.

Ser Endrew Tarth
A knight of unknown relation to the main branch of House Tarth. He is a ranger transferred from the Shadow Tower to Castle Black to become the new master-at-arms after Ser Alliser Thorne is sent with a message to King's Landing.
- Bit Character: Appears briefly near the start of A Clash of Kings where Jon observes that he is a better and more gentle master-at-arms than Ser Alliser. Besides that, he is only ever mentioned and dies around halfway through A Storm of Swords.
- Character Death: He is killed at the Battle of the Bridge of Skulls.
- Rank Up: His promotion to master-at-arms.
- Red Shirt: Never actually gets an characterization or even lines before his death.
Ser Glendon Hewett
A tall knight stationed at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea.
- Jerkass: He is a friend of Ser Alliser Throne and crony of Janos Slynt, and shares their less than pleasant mentality. One of the first things Glendon does in the series is drag Jon from bed and kick him in the ribs when Alliser had Jon imprisoned for killing Qhorin Halfhand and supposedly joining the wildlings.
- Number Two: He is second-in-command for Cotter Pyke. Jon is less than pleased when he learns that Glendon was left in charge of Eastwatch-by-the-Sea when Cotter sailed for Hardhome, remembering how Glendon abused him when they first met.
"Deaf" Dick Follard
A deaf ranger of House Follard stationed at Castle Black.
- Character Death: He is killed by an arrow from Ygritte during the Battle of Castle Black.
- Handicapped Badass: He may be deaf, but he still a pretty good shot with a bow.
