     Brand New Day
It was an age of heroes. For decades, Superheroes protected the world, leading through example and standing for something other than themselves. With these new myths and icons opening the door, the world was able to put the past behind it and move on to greener pastures. What was once thought of as science fiction or fantasy became reality. Space travel was a fact of life. New races both native to Earth and from afar were popping out of the woodwork and establishing relations with humanity almost daily. All while their heroes continued to keep the peace. It was like paradise, and almost seemed too good to be true.

But perhaps it was. Ever since the world's greatest hero The Saint was murdered two years ago, the peace that he and the other heroes had helped to establish had been ripped off like a bandaid. Prohuman purists and radical nonhuman organizations had popped out of the woodwork, and while the fall of one such group a year ago had led to things dying down to a degree, they still remained. On top of that, without the Saint's example, the Superhero community has been steadily growing more extreme. Where once heroes had tried to stand for some higher ideal, many seem more concerned with simply stopping villains at any cost. Even if it means beating them to a pulp. While there currently haven't been that many cases of murder, it's only a matter of time before the bodies start piling up if something isn't done.

Still, life goes on. As does the Saint Foundation. The Foundation was created by the Saint to serve as a global organization of Superheroes, dedicated to giving as many heroes as possible a steady paycheck while turning them into an organized fighting force. Whether it be a natural disaster or the dread lord Gohmallamaku wrecking havok on our plane of existence, the Foundation always has a ready group of heroes to deal with anything that comes up. However, due to an incident involving an attempted summoning gone wrong, the Supercity branch of the Foundation is currently facing a dearth of members, and as such has started a recruitment drive. Anyone from any walk of life is eligible to join, whether they're an experienced hero or is just starting their professional career. The question is, will they simply do their job and call it day? Or will they try to stand for something more? Regardless, with everything that's been going on and with all that's yet to come, they're sure to have their work cut out for them.

Here's hoping they survive the experience.

Tropes

  • Cape Punk: The setting is not just supers beat up bad guys. The 'how' and things like ethics and image heavily affect play. The first encounter nearly had the heroes destroying the city and going straight for the heads of their opponents. Where were they in Infinity War?
  • Cast Herd: The Class acts in 4 distinct groups.
  • The Clan: Lily's Aquatos clan
  • Crapsack World: The 16 year old Kid Hero is a war veteran. And the students just held off two insurgencies with xenocidal ambitions. The public was slowly heading down the stages of genocide not a year ago and the Guardians and Gaea successor politics are mainstream.
  • Fantastic Racism: The effects of the Gaea campaign in year two didn't just vanish when Gaea fell.
  • No Biochemical Barriers: Zach and Yoko have a couple of kids when the series starts. Mikael's existence is evidence that humans and demons can reproduce. His and Ellie's constant offers seem to imply that they can couple with no more risk than any given pair of humans. And so far, Martin has not died (permanently anyway) even before being empowered by 'Love'. That said, he doesn't talk about what happens...
  • Not Wearing Tights: While most of the class has codenames and some even have costumes, many don't bother with super names or Spandex. 'Costumes' consist of everything from white tie suits to robot armor. The tone is very much akin to movies a la the MCU instead of comics.
  • Our Gods Are Greater : Cosmic Horrors and self-proclaimed gods aside, the deities of humanity are taught to be tulpa created by humanity's belief/want for deities.
  • Superhero Gods: The group has an ascended Aster's Grandfather, ready to come back from retirement; the paladin/(successor?) of 'Love'; and a daeva.
  • Super Team: The cast is split into 4. They differ sharply in how they're organized and how they interact.
Season One
  • Superheroes Stay Single: Oh so averted. Mikael and Ellie have been lovers for years and are now married. Zach has returned despite being a husband and a father of two. And Mahvash and Martin aren't exactly worried about one or the other being killed off.
  • The War Just Before: As mentioned, the heroes held off two insurgencies as students. Held off, not suppressed. The ostensible leader of one gave herself up, and given her factions' widespread popular support and the nature of an insurgency, they may have only scratched the movement. This is *after* the Gaea War before that the only entrenched post-2016 politics and set up the USA for the Guardian and Post-Gaea insurgencies.
