  • In City Slickers, Phil comes out dressed as a cowboy and asks how he looks. Mitch says, "You look like a member of the Village People."
  • In Wayne's World 2, Wayne suspects Cassandra's new manager Bobby of trying to seduce her, so he spies on them from a telephone pole while dressed as a construction worker. Communicating over walkie talkie, we see Garth and the rest of the crew are disguised as a traffic cop, biker, and sailor. Bobby spots them, and they flee and hide in a club called "The Tool Chest".

  • In Almost Perfect, Logan attends a college party where "Y.M.C.A." is played over the stereo. The crowd drunkenly sings and dances along.

Live-Action TV

  • 3rd Rock from the Sun: One episode ends with Tommy, Sally and Harry dressed as a sailor, a biker and a Native American (from a failed bank robbery), Dick dressed as a construction worker (trying to court Mary), and they're joined by Don, who is a policeman. To make sure the reference is clear, they all say "Hey" to each other and "Macho Man" starts playing.
  • The Muppet Show: The opening act for Episode 524 (the Roger Moore episode) is a group of pig vikings performing "In the Navy".
  • Saturday Night Live: The post-2020 election episode features Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump performing "Macho Man" as a Lonely Piano Piece, riffing on the real Trump's use of the song at his campaign rallies.

  • House of Mouse: In "Everybody Loves Mickey", one of the featured acts is The Angry Villager People performing "Let's Slay the Beast".
  • The Simpsons:
    • In "Homer Loves Flanders", Homer relieves a "nacho hat" and eats from it while singing "Nacho, nacho man! I want to be a nacho man!"
    • In "Simpson Tide", the Captain explains that it's tradition for a crew to sing an "ancient sea chanty" as an American vessel casts off, cuing the whole crew to launch into a rousing rendition of "In the Navy". The actual Village People (plus Smithers) even appear dancing on top of the submarine, only to end up drowning as it submerges.
