  • Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: In issue 6, Freddy Krueger calls one of the characters "Goldilocks".
  • The Simpsons Futurama Crossover Crisis: After Lisa explains how she and her family ended up at Planet Express:
    Fry: And now you're sitting in our chairs.
    Zoidberg: [looking sadly at a bowl he's holding] And they ate our porridge!

Comic Strips

  • Calvin and Hobbes: Hobbes once wrote a story called "Goldilocks and the Three Tigers". When Calvin's dad comes to the part where the tigers maul Goldilocks to death and eat her with the porridge before she can taste it, he finds it disgusting and refuses to finish the story.
  • U.S. Acres: Orson read the tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears in in the May 11, 1988 strip and asked if any of the listeners knew what she did after trying the too hot and the too cold bowls of porridge. Among other ridiculous suggestions from the others, Lanolin suggested she sued the bears.

Film — Animated

  • Shrek: The Three Bears are among the fairy tale creatures exiled to Shrek's swamp by Lord Farquaad. Except there are now only two; Farquaad made a rug out of Mama Bear. During the roundup scene, the Baby Bear complains that "this cage is too small!". In the DVD of the film, Baby Bear complains that "This menu's too small!" when the "Scene Index" option is selected on the main menu.
    • Puss in Boots: The Last Wish features a different set of Three Bears (one with a still living Mama) as a crime family led by Goldilocks, who is an orphan adopted into the family.

Literature

  • In Rainbow Magic, one of the Storybook Fairies, Mariana, protects Goldilocks and makes sure her story is safe.

  • The Faraway Tree features the Land of the Three Bears in one chapter, with the main characters meeting Goldilocks who, ironically, works as a nursemaid for the baby bear.

Live-Action TV

  • America's Next Top Model: Kari Schmidt's third and final pictorial before being eliminated had her pose as Goldilocks from the story.
  • Friends:
    Monica: He showed me where the restaurant's going to be. It's this- it's this cute little place on 10th Street. Not too big, not too small. Just right.
    Chandler: Was it formerly owned by Goldilocks a blonde woman and some bears?

Puppet Shows

  • Bear in the Big Blue House: In "It's a Mystery to Me", Bear, Tutter, and Ojo listen to a detective show on the radio, where Detective Kodiak helps the Three Bears uncover who ate their porridge and sat in their chairs.
  • Dinosaurs: In "When Food Goes Bad", Charlene reads a story called Goldilocks and the Three Herbivores to Baby.
  • Sesame Street: Baby Bear and his parents are the bears from the original story.

  • Chaos On Deponia: Rufus compares this story to Goal's mind being sliced in three parts.
    Rufus: You know the fairytale of the three bears? It was pretty much like that. Just that there were no bears. And that your mind was split three ways during a botched brain surgery.
  • In Infinite Craft, "Goldilocks" and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" are both possible crafting recipes.
  • One of the sample maps in the Level Editor of Timesplitters 2 was a stage that had the player face off against enemy waves that consisted of a maiden and three circus bears.

  • Dr. Monster: Leperchaun wears a Goldilocks wig while he drinks three bowls of soup one by one.
    Deady Bear: Step into my home and I'll feed you a bite too hot, too cold, just right!
  • RWBY: Yang Xiao Long alludes to the title character from Goldilocks. She's extremely proud of her long, golden hair and her first Grimm fight in the show is with Ursae, bear-like Grimm. In the introductory "Yellow" Trailer, the club she enters is owned by a man called Hei Xiong, meaning Black Bear in Chinese. His nickname is "Junior", in reference to Baby Bear. Her motif is also lampshaded in Volume 5, when a creepy man hits on her at a refueling station called "Just Rite"; the man describes her as "not too bulky, not too lean", but "just right", in reference to the fairytale's narrative of having Goldilocks try the chairs, porridge and bed before finding the third one adequate.

Webcomics

  • Girl Genius: One mini-arc where Gil returns to Castle Wulfenbach to find Tarvek running things is titled "Someone's Been Sitting on My Empire".

Western Animation

  • Adventures of the Gummi Bears: When Duke Igthorn invades Dunwyn Castle, he taunts a sleeping King Gregor with, "Someone's been sleeping in my bed."
  • The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas: During the montage of sleeping bears during the beginning, we see the Three bears sleeping in beds and a nearby table with three bowls of porridge.
  • The Fairly OddParents!: "Goldie-Crocks and the Three Fair Bears" revolves around Crocker re-enacting Goldilocks with the Fair Bears (who had a mediocre Easter special and are mostly out of showbiz).
  • An episode of Garfield and Friends is titled "Odielocks and the Three Cats". While waiting for his microwave lasagna to cool, Garfield decides to tell Odie his version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, with Odie in the role of Goldilocks, and him in the roles of the Three Bears (also taking inspiration from the Looney Tunes version of the Three Bears).

  • In one episode of Numberjacks, Five imagines that if people couldn't count properly, Goldilocks would have four bears instead of three.
  • The Patrick Star Show: In "Family Plotz", GrandPat reminisces on what happened the last time he took a nap outside of the house. Flashback to him, inexplicably with golden curls, waking up in a cottage and being menaced by three bears.
    GrandPat: Ah, people are still talking about it!
  • In a 1979 animated insert on Sesame Street, Goldilocks draws a bath in an early 20th-century bathtub. At first, the water is too hot. She adds ice cubes, which make the water too cold. Finally, she adds boiling water from a kettle, which makes the bath water just the right temperature.
  • Sabrina and The Groovie Goolies: The version Hagatha tells Frankie as a bedtime story depicts him as Goldilocks, swallowing each bowl of porridge whole before trying out the beds. When the three bearsnote  come home and see Goldilocks sleeping in Baby Bear's bed, they mistake her for a huge doll (that talks and eats), and she eats them out of house and home thanks to her constant hunger for porridge.
  • The Simpsons:
    • In "Lisa the Vegetarian", the Simpson family go to Storytown Village, an amusement park for 1- to 7½-year-olds, to do something Maggie would like. One of the things they see there is an animatronic stage show of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
      Papa Bear Animatronic: Somebody's been sleeping in my bed!
      Mama Bear Animatronic: (distorted) Somebody's been sleeping in my bed!
      Baby Bear Animatronic: Somebody's been sleeping in my bed!

    • In the "Treehouse of Horror XI" segment, "Scary Tales Can Come True", Bart and Lisa visit the Three Bears' house. When Bart comes across the Three Bears' porridge, he first tests Papa Bear's porridge and finds it too hot, then he tests Mama Bear's porridge and finds it too cold. He then looks over at Baby Bear's porridge, says, "Well, this doesn't take a genius."... and pours Mama Bear's porridge into Papa Bear's bowl. When the three bears return, Bart and Lisa escape, using a chair to block the front door. However, he and Lisa weren't aware of Goldilocks' presence inside the house and unknowingly left her to die by trapping her inside.
    • In "The Fat and the Furriest", Homer develops a fear of bears and accidentally knocks down some books from Maggie's bookshelf when he sees Maggie's teddy bear. Among the books he finds are The Bear Went Over the Mountain and The Berenstain Bears. He is relieved when he finds the book of Goldilocks, only to freak out when he reads the full title and the Three Bears.
    • The Couch Gag for "Bart's New Friend" is done in the style of the story, with Lisa in the role of Goldilocks, Homer in the role of Papa Bear, Marge in the role of Mama Bear, and Bart in the role of Baby Bear.
  • 2 Stupid Dogs: Red's first appearance ends with them being mauled by The Three Bears.
  • Unikitty!: Unikitty and her friends use a machine to enter into a storybook to change its stories it is containing. One of them happens to be Goldilocks where they do a house party with the title character in the bears' home.
  • We Bare Bears: Chloe is a little girl who sneaks into the home of three bears in the middle of the forest, eats their porridge and breaks their furniture. Sound familiar? Try saying the name "Chloe Park" and then "Goldilocks" out loud and notice how similar they sound.

Real Life

  • Astronomers refer to the area in a solar system with the optimal conditions for life to develop as the "Goldilocks Zone": not too hot, not too cold, but just right.
