  • In The Speed of Sound, Eddie is very confused to discover that there's a musical called Chicago being performed in New York. He wonders if there's a musical called New York being performed in Chicago.
  • The author of Creature Court has stated that the murderous Femme Fatale character Livilla is heavily based on Catherine Zeta-Jones's performance as Velma.

Live-Action TV

  • Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: When Rebecca ends up in jail, she has her cellmates reluctantly do a song parodying "Cell Block Tango".
  • Glee occasionally featured songs from the musical. "Mister Cellophane" was Kurt's audition song for glee club, and "All That Jazz", "Cell Block Tango" and "Hot Honey Rag" were also performed on different occasions.
  • Fosse/Verdon featured a dramatization of the stage musical's creation in the latter half, particularly highlighting the role Verdon played in getting it on its feet. It featured performances of "All That Jazz," "We Both Reached For The Gun", "Razzle Dazzle", and "Mr. Bojangles".
  • A storyline on the Soap Opera Passions had local heroine Sheridan being kidnapped and imprisoned in a pit. A fantasy sequence had the villains who did this to her dancing and singing "I Ain't Sorry" in a manner very akin to "Cell Block Tango".
  • A Musical Episode of One Life to Live had Blair and her daughter Starr performing "All That Jazz".

Theatre

  • In The Prom, Angie's character is a perpetual ensemble member of Chicago, annoyed that she is constantly passed over to playing Roxie for another Z-list celebrity. (In the show, the latest Roxie replacement is Tina Louise, aka Ginger from Gilligan's Island.)
