Films — Animation

  • Turning Red: 4*Town's outfits at the end of the film are reminiscent of the group's all-white fashion era for their album Millennium and their "I Want It That Way" music video.

Live-Action TV

  • The Boys: Drummer Boy used to be part of Super-Sweet, a band reminiscent of Backstreet Boys and N Sync.
  • Tokyo Vice:
    • In the first season episode (called, appropriately enough, "I Want it That Way"), Sato is driving Jake home after Jake has met with his boss (where his boss made Jake An Offer You Can't Refuse), and Sato starts singing along to "I Want it That Way" when it comes on the car stereo. Jake tries to tell Sato N Sync is better (Sato dismisses them as copycats), while Sato insists the song is about Intercourse with You, which Jake laughingly tries to disprove.
    • In a second season episode, Sato takes other gang members out to a karaoke bar, and they all sing along to "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)".
  • Whose Line Is It Anyway?: In one "Greatest Hits" skit, Ryan hints about owl calls, in an attempt to bring up The Who, but Colin instead goes with an arctic tern, whose call is evidently "BACKSTREETBOYS!"

Video Games

Western Animation

  • Aqua Teen Hunger Force: In "Super Trivia", Meatwad is a fan of the Backstreet Boys, naming the trivia team after them and giving incorrect answers to the game with something related to the Backstreet Boys.
  • Arthur: The special "It's Only Rock and Roll" opens with Muffy and Francine watching a live-action Backstreet Boys music video.
