- In the opening credits of Doraemon: Nobita's Chronicles of the Moon Exploration Nobita and friends are dressed in Victorian-era clothing and getting aboard a dorayaki-shaped spaceship before launching themselves onto the moon (shaped like Doraemon's head, no less!) and landing on it's side, evoking the famous rocket landing shot in this film.
- The cover of the fourth volume of Blue Monday parodies the famous "rocket in the moon's eye" shot, with Bleu and her friends sitting on it in early-1900s costumes.
- In Experimental Film, Lois gives the length of A Trip to the Moon (14 minutes) as an example of how short amateur silent films tend to be.
- The film plays a prominent role in The Invention Of Hugo Cabret, as well as its film adaptation, Hugo.
- Road to Avonlea: In "Home Movie", Jasper attends a screening of A Trip to the Moon, and gets so intrigued by the idea of moving pictures that he decides to buy his own movie camera.
- The video for "Tonight, Tonight" by The Smashing Pumpkins is a tribute to the movie.
- As is the video for Carly Rae Jepsen's "The Loneliest Time" (but infused with goofy disco dancing).
- The Original Generation Rider in Learning with Manga! FGO is Georges Méliès, and at one point tries to record a three-hour remake of A Trip to the Moon for use as their Noble Phantasm attack (and an excuse to hit Thomas Edison in the face with a rocket).
- Google homaged this film among others in their 2018 Google Doodle for Georges Méliès.
- Chalkzone: In "Madcap Snap" Rudy sends a bunch of clones of Snap to a newly drawn planet called "Planet Snap", which is just a giant Snap head out in space. When the rocket lands on it, it lands into the eye, exactly like in "A Trip to the Moon".
- DuckTales (2017): In "Whatever Happened to Donald Duck?!", it's revealed that General Lunaris has been trying to reach Earth by shooting a pod from a giant cannon, same as the Earth travelers in Melies' movie.
- Futurama: In "The Series Has Landed", the mascot of Luna Park, a performer in a large moon mask named Crater Face, tries to get Bender to stop drinking alcohol in the park. Bender responds by sticking the bottle he was drinking from in the costume's eye, mimicking the famous shot of the rocket embedded in the moon's eye.Craterface: At least I still have my self-respect. [laughs, then cries]
- Teen Titans (2003): "Bunny Raven... or ...How to Make A Titananimal Disappear" has a Freeze-Frame Bonus in the episode's infamous "Master of Your Fate" song number. When Mumbo stretches his neck to the stratosphere, in one shot it's revealed the moon is Mumbo's face with a rocket embedded in his eye.
