Literature
- One of the major Houses in City of No End is named House Leibowitz. They are closely tied to the Church of Ascension, a religion with the structure of Catholicism that is devoted to preserving ancient computer systems as an Artificial Afterlife.
Live Action TV
- Homaged in the Babylon 5 episode "The Deconstruction Of Falling Stars" where the Rangers are secretly behind a monastic order dedicated to the preservation of knowledge on an After the End Earth.
- Civilization: Beyond Earth: Purity's philosophy is stated to be heavily inspired by A Canticle for Leibowitz, with a dash of G.K. Chesterton in for good measure.
- Fallout: the Brotherhood of Steel is inspired on the monks of the Albertian Order of Leibowitz. Fallout 2 even included a cut location where you would find an abbey with monks that preserve pre-war knowledge.
- Wasteland 3: The nuclear apocalypse is referred to as "the deluge of fire."
- Crusader Kings II: The mod After the End: A Post-Apocalyptic America is heavily inspired by the book, complete with the actual abbey and The Order of St. Leibowitz being present in-game, both being led by a certain abbot Arkos at the start, Pope ruling over New Rome (St. Louis) and a possibility to form the nation of Texarkana.
