Recap / Yu Gi Oh VRAINS Ep 106 Good Luck Roboppi

Go To

Playmaker has made up his mind to fight against Ai, who is currently targeting Akira. Playmaker manages to find Ai, but it turns out that it was just a copy Ai made to buy time. His allies also encounter Ai's copies and fight against them. Meanwhile, Blood Shepherd and Ghost Girl encounter Roboppi, who was looking for someone to fight. They then start a Tag Duel.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Ai makes short work of both Genome and Baira like it's no one's business. Lampshaded by Blue Maiden, who comments on his strength.
  • Delaying Action: Ai sends three copies of himself running identical stall decks to tie up Playmaker, Soulburner, and Revolver while the real Ai goes after Akira, who is now down his three of his best duelists.
  • Grade System Snark: Ai explains that a rating system applies to all duelists; he lumps everyone together within a single group, while he places Playmaker below everyone else on the grounds that he supposedly only became strong because of Ai, while Ai ranks himself above everyone else. Where does Roboppi sit? Why, below Playmaker, because of Roboppi's lack of dueling history!
  • Humans Are Bastards: Roboppi expresses this sentiment, Ai having shown him the harm humanity has caused to the planet.
  • Kick the Dog: Ai attempts to set off Soulburner by claiming that he terminated Flame, but Soulburner doesn't lash out, instead attempting to reason with Ai (which falls on deaf ears).
  • My Greatest Failure: Ai, being the Sole Survivor of the Ignis following the events of the Ignis Warfare, intends to continue Lightning's legacy following his own failure to both save the rest of the Ignis and make human/Ignis coexistence a reality.
  • Self-Duplication: Ai creates three copies of himself that run a stall deck so Playmaker, Soulburner, and Revolver will be stuck dueling the copies while the real one and Roboppi clean up the other duelists.
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: Roboppi decides to duel Blood Shepherd and Ghost Girl at the same time, and insists he won't use his skill, all to make the match more challenging.
  • Title Drop: Roboppi exclaims "Into the VRAINS!" alongside Playmaker at the end of the episode preview.
