- Adaptational Jerkass: In the Japanese version, Reggie idolized Chazz until learning he uses trash cards in the form of the Ojamas. In the dub, he was a snob from the start mocking Chazz's residence in the red dorm.
- BFS: Every sword equip spell Reggie used at any point in the duel gets added to his Gilford the Legend and increases the size of Gilford's sword, dwarfing Cloud Strife's Buster Sword.
- Cool Sword: Reggie's deck consists of warrior monsters that he powers up with sword-themed equip spells.
- Insult Backfire: When Bonaparte encourages trash talk among the duelists, Reggie starts off by calling Chazz a nasty, stuck-up snob that no one likes. Chazz's response? That he's waiting to be insulted.
- Crowler gets one as well. When Alexis learns Crowler set this duel strictly for publicity, she calls it the most selfish, egotisical thing she's ever heard of. Crowler thanks her for the "compliment".
- Weak, but Skilled: Chazz makes great use of the physically weak Ojamas and their various support cards to successfully defeat Reggie.
