Jermaine arrives at the temple, having attained the level of Wudai Warrior. When Omi learns that Jermaine trained under the evil Chase Young, he must defeat his friend in a Showdown to save him.

Tropes

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: There are three things that Dojo has learned to never talk about: religion, politics, and Omi’s head.
  • Brick Joke: The Jackbot cutout Jack complains about having to use in place of actual Jackbots comes in handy when he uses it and a mechanical claw in a "live" recording of Tubbimura's dog "Muffinface" being held hostage in order to get out of the one-sided arrangement with Tubbi and get his belongings, particular his beloved helipack, back.
  • The Bus Came Back: Jermaine makes his second appearance after he was seen in "My Homey Omi".
  • Butt-Monkey: Jack is even unluckier than usual in this episode. He’s finally run out of robot minions due to the monks destroying them all in battle and he spends most of the episode as Tubbimura’s whipping boy, also being forced to give Tubbimura his helibot. When he turns into a fly and goes to the Xiaolin Temple to steal the Monks’ lava lamp for Tubbimura, he gets electrocuted by their bug zapper. And during the showdown, he loses when he turns into a fly and gets eaten by a passing crow. He escaped the crow’s stomach by turning back into a human, but then gets squished when Tubbimura falls on him. He catches a break in the end when he gets his helibot back from Tubbimura, though.
  • Collective Death Glare: The Warriors’ reaction to Dojo being disappointed that the battle over the Golden Finger between Omi and Jermaine ended in a tie.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Master Fung is trying to teach the Warriors about humility, Omi brags about how humble he is as his head (literally) grows bigger and bigger.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Played for Laughs.
Omi: I order you to spill your internal organs, right now!
Jack: WHAT KIND OF SICK PEOPLE ARE YOU?!
  • Fallen-on-Hard-Times Job: In exchange for Tubbimura’s help, Jack is forced to become his dog-walker and clean his house for him twice a month.
  • Fighting Your Friend: Master Fung has Omi and Jermaine battle each other in the hopes that it will bring them closer. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work and they end up fighting for real over the Golden Finger later.
  • Foreshadowing: While Dojo's story about losing a friendship over a yo-yo may seem like nothing but a humorous tangent here, it would ultimately come to pass next season as the friend in question would make a physical appearance.
  • From Bad to Worse: A villainous example; Jack has fallen so far since Wuya left him for Chase that not only does he no longer have functioning Jackbots (only cheap cutouts), but also has to barter his personal belongings just to enter into a rather one-sided "partnership" with Tubbimura, who wastes no time in forcing Jack to do his bidding in order for Jack to enlist his services. Even Kimiko can't help but pity Spicer a little.
Kimiko: Sounds like one evil boy genius has hit some hard times.
  • Gladiator Games: The Xiaolin Showdown of the episode is a gladiator fight, complete with an arena filled with lions, that turns into a Chariot Race.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Omi becomes this after he learns Jermaine has reached the level of Wudai Warrior. To a lesser extent, Jack also complains about how Wuya gets to work with Chase Young and he doesn’t.
  • Jabba Table Manners: Omi and Jermaine when they stuff their mouths with rice.
  • Long List: Tubbimura gives Jack a long list of items he wants in exchange for his services, which includes beachwear, roller blades, fuzzy pink slippers, a lava lamp, Clay’s cowboy hat, and many other things.
  • The Mole: Jermaine, though an unknowing one at that. It turns out the master he was learning from has been Chase Young all along, although Jermaine didn’t know he’s evil.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The Warriors are close to retrieving the Manchurian Musca when Omi’s jealousy overcomes him and he bungles the entire mission.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Dojo tries to convince Jermaine and Omi to make up, but he wanders into a tangeant about how he himself had a falling out with a friend named Chuck (over a yo-yo Chuck stole from him and then lost). It doesn't help Dojo’s case that he never forgave Chuck and still hates him to this day. Jermaine concludes it by bitterly claiming "Some friendships aren't worth saving". Dojo agrees, before he remembers he was previously talking about Omi and Jermaine.
  • Once an Episode: Omi, Jermaine, Jack, and Tubbimura all touch the Golden Finger at the same time. The wagered Shen Gong Wu are Ruby or Ramses (Omi), Manchurian Musca (Jack), Shroud of Shadows (Tubbimura), and Chase gives Jermaine the Lasso Boa-Boa in battle of the gladiators. Jack uses the Manchurian Musca to turn into a fly only to get eaten by a bird. Tubbimura uses the Shroud of Shadows to turn his chariot invisible, but parts of the wheels aren't covered allowing Omi to uses the Ruby or Ramses to remove the shroud making Tubbimura visible and eliminate him. Jermaine then calls out Omi for his unhappiness of his success. Omi confides he was jealous and lays down his weapons. Jermaine touched by the gesture, also drops his weapons ending the battle in a draw.
  • Shutting Up Now: After Dojo complains about the showdown ending without a winner, the monks and Jermaine glare at him and he promptly stops talking.
  • Spiteful Spit: After finishing his angry rant about how he hates Chuck, Dojo spits on Clay’s food, to Clay’s irritation.
  • Status Quo Is God: Omi tries to get Jermaine to stay with the Xiaolin Warriors once they’ve gotten over their feud. In order to preserve the status quo of only four Warriors on the show, Jermaine turns down the offer.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Dojo does this a couple times during his angry rant.
Dojo: Chuck wanted to borrow my yo-yo! My favorite yo-yo! The treasured family yo-yo! I politely told Chuck “no”. But did he leave it at that?! NO!! He snuck into my room and he took it anyway! And then…He lost it. LOST IT!!
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After spending the episode suffering pain and indignities, and losing his helibot to Tubbimura, Jack catches a break in the end when he gets his helibot back.
  • Tongue-Out Insult: Jack Spicer’s response to Tubbimura taking his helibot as payment since Jack has run out of money.
Jack: No! Not the helibot! My grandma gave it to me when I turned evil!
Tubbimura: (snatches Jack’s helibot) It is mine now. (Jack sticks his tongue out at Tubbimura)
  • Troll: Tubbimura during this exchange when Jack is working on his car.
    Tubbimura: Where is Wuya?
Jack: I don’t know. I…I think she’s um, uh, off visiting her mother!
Tubbimura: (chuckles) I heard she dropped you for Chase Young.
Jack: (looks at Tubbimura furiously) Then why did you ask?!
Tubbimura: I wanted to see that look. (Tubbimura laughs at Jack. Jack’s car then squirts oil on his face and Tubbimura laughs at him some more.)
  • Vacuum Mouth: Omi and Jermaine’s rivalry gets so bad that even eating becomes a competition. Jermaine steals a spoonful of Omi’s rice, and Omi one-ups him by vacuuming up his entire bowl.
