Depressed at being an orphan, Omi is advised by Master Fung to go on a quest to find his family. The Dragons find a village of people who look strikingly like our bald warrior, but what will happen when Omi's "Parents" want him to stay home?

- An Aesop: Family isn't necessarily about those who are related to you, but rather, about the ones who genuinely care about you.
- Alas, Poor Villain: Omi's sentiment towards his "mother". Although he's still on the side of good, when she falls towards the end of their showdown, Omi can't help but feel devastated to see his mother fall to her apparent death. ...at least, before he learns she was a robot all along. When the dust has settled, he takes the time to quietly grieve for her, remarking that despite she was a nagging shrew and a robot in disguise, he still regards her as the closest thing to a mother he had for a while.
- Bittersweet Ending: Yes, Omi manages to defeat the invaders and accepts the monks as his surrogate family but Hannibal Bean still manages to steal a chunk of the Wus.
- Christmas Episode: Averted. It's Chinese New Year, but the monks and Dojo are unwrapping gifts from their families.
- Death Glare: Upon learning that what was believed to Omi's mother was really a robot, Omi and the other Monks give a vicious one to Jack, knowing he was obviously the one who built it.
- Don't You Like It?: For New Year's, Dojo's great(x4)-uncle Tiamat sent him his bones. "How thoughtful."
- It Was with You All Along: Omi is confused that his journey to find his family took him back where he started. Turns out, that's the idea: Master Fung, Dojo and the other monks let him know he has a family at the temple.
- Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: If Chase Young hadn't convinced him to return to the Xiaolin Temple, Omi would've stayed in the village while the temple itself was being raided.
- Once an Episode: Omi's mother challenges him to bamboo hopping. First to fall loses. She wagers the Orb of Tornami for Omi's Lasso Boa Boa. She uses the Orb of Tornami on Omi but since it's his dragon element, he turns the water back on her, causing her to fall.
- Pragmatic Villainy: Chase gets Omi to leave the farm, as it's in his best interests for his rivals' plan to fail.
- Robotic Reveal: During their Xiao Lin Showdown, Omi's 'mother' falls to her apparent death...only to break into robotic pieces upon impact.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Poor Omi...
