- Amazon Brigade: This time it's the return of the Northern Amazons.
- Becoming the Mask: It turns out that Amarice is not an amazon after all. Gabrielle later inducts her into her own group. Amarice also stays with the Northern Amazons to formally become one there.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Alti wipes the floor with first Gabrielle and then Yakut in the spirit realm on separate occasions.
- Dem Bones: Alti and Xena do battle in their skeletal forms.

- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Poor Yakut. First she reveals that she was the one who released Alti's soul, allowing her to torment Xena. Then she tries to battle Alti by herself. She loses badly, forcing Xena go enter the spirit realm which led to Alti taking the baby's soul.

Nightmare Fuel: A rather gruesome scene involves skeleton ripping out of her womb. Luckily it was just a nightmare - Put on a Bus: Amarice. Her actress goes on to play Cleopatra on another show, so Amarice stays with the Northern Amazons for the time being.
- Spirit World: Where Alti is currently residing. The problem is that she is nearly unstoppable in her domain.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Otere was declared the new leader of the Northern Amazons the last time Xena visits them. She is never mentioned in this episode.
- Womb Horror: When Xena is sent to a midwife's place, a skeleton pops out from her stomach. Luckily it's just a dream.
