Tropes

  • But I Can't Be Pregnant!: Probably one of the most memorable examples on this trope of all time:
Xena: If you weren't such a quack, you would know that getting pregnant involves certain physical requirements that I haven't met in a long time. And I mean a very long time. No one. Zilch. Zippo. I am a love-free zone. Therefore, it is utterly impossible that I be up the duff. So, what's your diagnosis, now?
  • Cowboy Episode: Spamona resembles a wild west town and everybody wears cowboy-like outfits.
  • Can't Live with Them, Can't Live Without Them:
Joxer: Women. Can't live with 'em. Can't chain 'em in the yard.
  • Compliment Backfire:
Arman: You deserve someone who'll really appreciate you. A man who'll protect and pamper you.
Amarice: A man to protect me?
Arman: Make sure you never have to worry... or be scared...
Amarice: You think I'm scared of you?.
Arman: No, no... that's not what I said.
    Amarice: That's what you meant!
  • Dating Catwoman: Talia revealed to have married the warlord Darkon.
  • Description Cut:
    • Amarice and Arman comment that Xena usually has her act together. Cue the very next scene where she's throwing up in a barrel.
    • Joxer gets reminded which gender is currently massaging his back quickly after that statement.
  • Does Not Like Men: Amarice displays her contempt for men. Understandable as she lived with the amazons all her life.
  • Fool for Love: Amarice, big time.
  • Hot Springs Episode: As you can guess from a town called Spamona.
  • I Work Alone: Talia doesn't want Xena's help in dealing with Darkon and his men. Understandable, given that she figures out that Xena is pregnant.
  • Mars and Venus Gender Contrast: Prominent in this episode, especially in the scene when he two groups among one another in different rooms.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Lucy Lawless became pregnant in Real Life, so it was decided that Xena would be pregnant as well.
  • Stubborn Mule: It takes a while before the horse Gabrielle rescued befriends her.
  • The Sheriff: Talia.
  • Wacky Cravings:
Xena: I don't feel so good
Gabrielle: After raspberry jam and raw fish? Big surprise.
