Go To

Also known as Meant To Be in the 4Kids dub.

While on spring break in Gardenia, Bloom helps her parents in an accident and learns a big secret about her past.

Tropes:

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Bloom discovers she has the ability to see people's true nature, including this trope. A prime example is Mr. Bonner and Mr. Bonner. They act all kind and friendly in front of Vanessa, offering to make her flower shop a chain store for her. But Bloom sees their true selves scheming to use the "partnership" to steal ownership from her.
  • Cassandra Truth: Played with. Bloom tells Vanessa that the Bonners are trying to take advantage of her, and Vanessa is initially in disbelief that such generous people would lie to her. But it's ultimately averted when she takes her daughter's advice and calls off their partnership.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Mr. Bonner and Mr. Bonner may pretend to act nice, but if things aren't going their way, their masks start to crack a bit. When Vanessa decides against a partnership, one of the Bonners "accidentally" breaks a flower pot.
  • Foreshadowing: After the Bonners leave, Bloom uses her magic to easily fix and reassemble the flower pot they "accidentally" knocked over as a low-key threatening gesture. This sets up how the Bonners will try many attempts to sabotage Vanessa's flower shop, only for Bloom's magic to undo the damage.
  • Heroic Fire Rescue: Bloom and Mike rescue Mr. Bonner's son from the florist fire.
  • Mid-Season Twist: Being the middle of the first season, Bloom finds out she was adopted and is not from Earth, and is determined to get answers about her birth family.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The Bonners find themselves in deep trouble when their driver (who they previously swindled out of his limousine company) agrees to testify against them. Not only that, it also counts as karma for trying to burn down Vanessa's flower shop, on top of leaving their driver for dead in the fire.
  • Reflective Eyes: The flames of the florist fire are reflected into Bloom's eyes as she is seeing a vision of Mike rescuing her from a fire when she was a baby.
  • Sincerity Mode: The only reason Bloom believes the Bonners' limousine driver's claims he never meant to be a part of his bosses' arson is because her new-found powers allow her to see his true nature: a remorseful man.
  • Wham Episode: Bloom finds out she was adopted by Mike and Vanessa, meaning she's not from earth.
  • Wham Line:
    Mike: That baby was you.
