"Hang a map of a place you'll never go on your living room wall. Draw new streets. Tear off bodies of water. Wait for news crews to arrive. Welcome to Night Vale."
In-between segments, Cecil recalls the time he spent backpacking through Europe while in college.
Tropes present in A Memory of Europe include:
- Blatant Lies: Trish Hidge from the mayor's office held a press conference in which she stood in front of a large truck, while denying that the truck existed. She later said it was a workout for her denial skills, which she denies having. She also denied the existence of the sky and eggs.
- Nothing Is Scarier: Franchia. A country made entirely of stone arches, with not a single resident except for a monster that Cecil never actually sees.
"Today's proverb: Ask your doctor if right is left for you."
