A mysterious old warrior named Grougaloragran fends off an attack from the sinister Xelor Nox, and bestows the baby Yugo to a gentle ex-bounty hunter named Alibert. A decade later, Yugo starts to develop the power to create portals, and just in time for a destructive monster to attack his foster father's inn!
Tropes:
- Attention Deficit... Oh, Shiny!: The demon-possessed beast is actually distracted from his rampage by a shiny trophy on the wall. The Shushu has to redirect him.
- Badass and Baby: Grougaloragran and Yugo, at the beginning.
- Bare-Handed Blade Block: Grougaloragran stops Nox's sword with two fingers. What stuns the Xelor the most, though, is that he does so despite time being frozen.
- Curb-Stomp Battle:
- Grougaloragran is easily able to No-Sell all of Nox's attacks and One-Hit KO's the Xelor with his fire breath.
- An ambush attempted by Nox's Grambos against Grougaloragran moments earlier also counts. Keyword being "attempted".
- Deadly Dodging: Yugo jumps on top of the Shushu-possessed monster, who tries to punch him but only ends up hitting himself.
- Demonic Possession: The beast attacking the inn is a young man controlled by a Shushu.
- Establishing Character Moment:
- Grougaloragran appears from nowhere, mysteriously pushing a baby carriage, ignores the threats of the Grambos and promptly curbstomps them when they try to kill him. When Nox appears, Grougal warns him to keep his distance, but when he's attacked he proceeds to defeat his swiftly, proving him to be old, wise, aloof and dangerous if provoked.
- Alibert is seen working as a Bounty Hunter who promptly releases the man he captured so that he can return to his family. This act also makes Grougal choose him as Yugo's foster parent.
- Ruel in the present angrily shoos away two birds from a golden coin, which he promptly collects. When he meets Amalia and Evangelyne, he promptly take notices of the valuable items they're carrying above all else.
- Rubilax, having possessed his guardian, proceeds to go on a rampage in a village, screaming about how he'll bring destruction to everything.
- Fell Asleep Standing Up: The young man who was possessed does this after being freed.
- Powers in the First Episode: Yugo develops his powers accidentally here, reacting by reflex to a shelf breaking and catching its falling content into a portal.
- Skewed Priorities: Yugo and Alibert are more concerned that there are people leaving without paying than the monster they are fleeing from.
- This Cannot Be!: Nox has such a moment when he realizes that there's only one creature with such a huge amount of Wakfu, a creature which was thought to be a legend... a Dragon.
- Time Stands Still: Nox first display this power against Grougal, who, however, manages to break free after a few seconds and turn the table on Nox.
- Totem Pole Trench: The Grambos accosting Grougaloragran are at first stacked in a large coat, before revealing there're three of the midgets.
