Recap / WITCH Animated S 2 E 14 N Is For Narcissist

Go To

While WITCH are stuck at a car wash, Nerissa and the Knights of Destruction launch an attack on Kandrakar.

The episode contains the following tropes:

  • Agony of the Feet: Soon after ditching their shoes and entering Kandrakar with bare feet, Taranee accidentally steps on Cornelia's foot, much to the latter's chagrin. In a more general example, the rest of the girls, with the exception of Cornelia, are forced to run across the shattered fortress grounds of Kandrakar in their bare feet after losing their powers in order to find cover.
  • All Your Powers Combined: When trying to divert the power of the aurameres into the Heart of Meridian, Nerissa and Halinor accidentally infuse Cornelia with the combined powers of all five Guardians. Notably, each of the powers seems to be far stronger when they are all inside a single vessel.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Cornelia relinquishes the other four powers at the end of the episode.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: With all five powers, Cornelia is able to absolutely decimate the Knights of Destruction.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Each of the Guardians are able to generate their own elements, except Cornelia. This isn't an issue most of the time when a battle is typically fought on the ground. However, the Fortress of Kandrakar is a stone building in the sky, separating Cornelia from a viable source to use her powers and rendering her quite useless in the fight against the Knights.
  • Emotion Eater: Cornelia is able to turn the Knights' power to feed on emotions against them by overloading Tridart with the opposite emotion to the one he feeds on. And what's the opposite of icy fear: hot confidence.
  • Fatal Flaw: Fear. Halinor's.
Mage!Nerissa: Fear is a powerful thing. Especially when it fuels betrayal. The need to do anything, no matter how treasonous, to smother the burning flame of your own fear is the chink in the armor of your soul. And all I need to make you mine.
  • Hurt Foot Hop: Cornelia does this in response to Taranee accidentally stepping on her foot.
  • An Ice Person: While Irma and Hay-Lin have created ice by using their powers together before, Cornelia, with both their powers, can do it by herself.
  • Internal Reveal: The Guardians and the Council of Kandrakar learn in this episode that Nerissa has been impersonating the Mage.
  • Losing a Shoe in the Struggle: The girls have to ditch their shoes before going into battle so that Blunk can cover for them at the car wash. Due to Cornelia soon inadvertently absorbing the rest of the girls' powers, Will, Irma, Taranee and Hay Lin spend the rest of the episode barefoot in their human forms. The episode ends with all of the girls barefoot, with their shoes completely missing. Cornelia lampshades this with the final line of the episode.
Cornelia: Hey, has anyone seen my shoes?
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Nerissa and Halindor's attempt to infuse the Heart of Meridian with the aurameres' power results in them infusing Cornelia with all five Guardian powers instead. Oops!
  • Power Echoes: When Cornelia is infused with all the Guardian powers, her voice appears to boom both physically and telepathically.
  • Power is Sexy: Quinto guardian Cornelia is much taller and bustier then her regular Guardian form, which was already pretty tall. Plus, her skirt gets shorter and her shirt becomes off the shoulder and lower cut, which Caleb notes is "hot."
  • Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: Cornelia gets two, both primarily directed at Tridart.
    Cornelia: Hey ice guy, CHILL.

Cornelia: Now, you feed on fear...you'll choke on this! EAT HOT CONFIDENCE, ICE CUBE!
  • With Great Power Comes Great Hotness: Cornelia with all 5 powers. Justified as they contribute to her aging up to an adult form.
