Lotor and Allura travel to Oriande because they were the chosen few who could enter, and after Voltron and the castle were taken out of commission. As the two bond over the experience, they pass two trials before facing the White Lion itself. Afterwards, Allura goes to repower the ship, and thank Lotor, although he looks less than pleased. Haggar, still spying on the group tells Acxa to go to the new coordinates she had set.

- Big "NO!": Lotor attacking the lion, and when it vanishes, he realizes he was sent back to the front of the castle.

- Mythology Gag: The original Lion Voltron had an episode of the same name. There the White Lion was a Robeast that Haggar had tricked Allura into believing was a spirit sent by her father to teach an important lesson. Here the lion really is a spirit that teaches her something.
- Only the Worthy May Pass: The White Lion is the gatekeeper to Oriande, only allowing a chosen few to enter. While Voltron is violently shut out, Allura and Lotor manage to pass.
- Secret Test of Character: Lotor and Allura are each attacked by a vision of the white lion. Allura willingly offers up her life, and is granted the secrets of Altean alchemy. Lotor destroys his vision, and is expelled from the castle.
- Ship Tease: Between Lotor and Allura even more this episode. They go off to Oriande together, alone, and after climbing a summit and confiding with each other, Lotor gives Allura a fond smile that she returns as the two have a Held Gaze.
- Sustained Misunderstanding: Lance confuses Hunk, Pidge and Coran's banter as answering his questions. Of course, Hilarity Ensues.
- The Reveal: Those times when we see Haggar watching Lotor via her magic? Turns out she's been looking through Shiro's eyes to do so.
