While the Paladins help Lotor secure the throne, the Blade of Marmora sends Keith on a mission to extract one of their undercover agents from the middle of a battle between rival Galra factions before either side can claim the superweapon she's responsible for guarding.

Tropes featured in this episode:

  • Amazing Freaking Grace: Plays as the reprogrammed sentry is blasted off into space.
  • Batman Gambit: Krolia gave up the access codes knowing that the weapon would kill Trugg before she or her troops could even get a chance to use it.
  • Call-Back: Krolia telling Keith to "shut up and trust me".
  • Enemy Civil War: Keith arrives in the middle of one, with Commanders Trugg and Ladnok warring for control of Krolia's base.
  • Fat and Skinny: The two Galra soldiers chasing Lance, Pidge, and Hunk around central command. They eventually give up and join in on the antics.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: The soldiers are attempting to apprehend the trio for "improper sustenance preparation."
  • Flat Joy: The reprogrammed sentry droid.
  • Game of Chicken: Lance and the droid, using the two Galra soldiers who had been chasing them throughout the episode. The droid wins.
  • Hostage for MacGuffin: Commander Trugg holds Keith at gunpoint to convince Krolia to give up the access codes.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Krolia reveals herself as Keith's mother at the end of the episode.
  • Military Salute: The Garrison Trio to the droid once they fired him off into space using the Robeast coffin, while the two Galra soldiers perform their own version — a Vrepit Sa salute.
  • Mood Whiplash: The plot of the episode switches between Keith on a dramatic mission to extract Krolia from Ranvik's base before Trugg can claim it, and comedic scenes of the Garrison Trio goofing around Galra HQ with a reprogrammed sentry.
  • No-Sell: When Lance tries to follow Allura and Lotor, the droid simply stops him with an arm and easily pushes a struggling Lance back.
  • Put on a Bus: Sam takes an Altean pod to fly back to Earth in order to warn the Garrison about the war.
  • Sand In My Eyes: Lance tears up upon being reminded of Earth, but claims that he isn't crying and that there's "space dust" in his eyes. Hunk and Coran aren't fooled, as they get in on it immediately as well.
  • Shout-Out: The reprogrammed sentry is sent out on a rocket to the song of "Amazing Grace".
  • So Proud of You: Sam telling this to his children as he leaves to go back to earth.
  • Stock Scream: One of these is heard in the fight between Trugg's and Ladnok's fleets.
  • Wham Line: While many probably figured out who Krolia was, it's still shocking to hear her tell Keith, "I left you once, I'll never leave you again" and when he asks her how she could use his blade she answers, "Because it used to be mine once, before I gave it to your father".
