Alan offers to help get Charlie's cleaning lady back if Charlie can get Jake ready to go out to dinner with his mother.

Tropes:

  • Anguished Declaration of Love: Played for Laughs. Charlie yells one to his housekeeper Berta as he goes to stop her from leaving.
  • Artistic License – Geography: Rose identifies the address of Steven Tyler (lead singer of AEROSMITH), who actually does live in Malibu, as 4456 Malibu Canyon Road. 4456 Malibu Canyon Road is the parking lot of (City Of) Malibu Bluffs Park.
  • Ask a Stupid Question...: As Berta shows signs of back pain, Alan asks her if she does a lot of lifting. Forgetting that she is a housekeeper.
  • Bait-and-Switch: In the opening, it looks as if Charlie is greeted awake by another one night stand...then the camera pans over to show that it's actually Berta, his housekeeper.
  • Blatant Lies: Rose denying her accidentally saying "Randy" instead of "Andy" and that he's a real guy she didn't make up at all.
  • Celebrity Cameo: Berta cleans house for Steven Tyler from Aerosmith who is not seen but heard.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: In the kitchen, Jake offers his uncle a "glass of peanut butter" which is exactly microwaved Jif peanut butter melted down to liquid and it ain't pretty.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Berta leaving because Alan and Jake moved in with Charlie after he promised it was going to be "just the two of us". It comes off hilariously as a woman being scorned by her lover and walking out.
  • Epic Fail: Jake washing his bike chain in the toilet and accidentally flushing it down the toilet.
Jake: We're gonna need a new chain.
  • Establishing Character Moment: It's made clear a couple minutes into her first appearance that while Berta may be a housekeeper, she has no tolerance for being bossed around or micromanaged, and thinks nothing of acting disrespectfully towards her clients.
  • Manchild: Alan calls Charlie out for his "high-maintenance child" attitude.
  • Noodle Incident: Somehow Jake got covered from head to toe in grease. His bike chain broke too.
Charlie: The hell happened to you?
Jake: You know what else is complicated? Fractions.
  • Not What It Looks Like: As Alan gives Berta a back adjustment for her back pain, Steven Tyler walks in and they look like they're in a compromising position.
Steven Tyler: Berta, if you're gonna do a guy in the laundry room, put a scarf on the doorknob or something.
  • Operation: Jealousy: Rose fakes seeing a guy named Andy just so Charlie will feel jealous for her.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Toward the end of the episode, the tune Charlie is playing on the piano when Rose returns from her attempted date with (R)Andy is from another NBC hit sitcom: "Mad About You". ("Two and a Half Men" aired on CBS, not NBC.) Although the piano melody played here is similar to the "Mad About You" theme, it is highly doubtful the production would pay a licensing fee required for such an inconsequential scene.
    • Berta compares Alan and his neurotic tendencies to the cleaning product logo Scrubbing Bubbles.
