Expelled from Decepticon ranks, Octane is now working as a smuggler, trying to stay under the radar and keep the cash flowing. But Galvatron has a long memory for revenge and puts a price on the head of the shifty triple-changer. Ducking bounty hunters at every turn, Octane finds an unlikely ally in the form of a familiar face.

- Funny Background Event: When Sandstorm and Octane stop at a diner, a group of neighboring patrons are engaging in an increasingly nonsensical conversation:Patron #1: I'm still hungry!
Patron #2: Oh, this? I picked it up on Mars.
Patron #3: You mean without a paddle?
Patron #2: Well, I thought the water was safe to drink. - Joker Immunity: Starscream isn't about to let something like death get in the way of his scheming. This is the first continuity to give it to him, setting the standard for other iterations of the brand.
- Here We Go Again!: After Galvatron "exorcises" Starscream's ghost from Cyclonus, he jumps into Scourge.
- Odd Friendship: Octane and Sandstorm.
- Proud Warrior Race Guy: Cyclonus."Come out and face your fate like the powerful Decepticon you once were, not like the miserable excuse for a Decepticon you have become!"
- Ridiculously Human Robots: Sandstorm hurls a smoke grenade at the Combaticons, and they cough despite none of them having lungs and all but one of them lacking mouths.
- Villainous Breakdown: After his attempts to kill Octane are thwarted by a farcical series of mishaps, the Skuxxoid's frustration turns him into an incoherent mess."I didn't WANT this job, I HAD to take it! I've got a wife and kids! I HAVE to deactivate you! Look, a guy's got to make a living, don't you understand?"
