Go To

Heather uses her cameo episode to steal the million-dollar prize, prompting the campers to stop her using flying machines of their own creation. Jo and Cameron form a temporary alliance, but her ruthlessness prompts him to vote her out.

Tropes:

  • And This Is for...: After Zoey tames the flying mutant fire-breathing mountain goats, she has them set fire to Scott's wings. She lets Scott know it is payback for the blackmail, violence, and elimination he has inflicted on her boyfriend Mike.
  • Batman Gambit: After Cameron wins a smoke machine for finishing his flying machine first, Jo scams it off of him. Anticipating that Jo would take the smoke machine from him, Cameron rigged it to explode in her face.
  • The Beastmaster: Zoey manages to gain the trust of the flying mutant fire-breathing mountain goats, and uses them to blast Scott out of the sky, as well as rescuing Cameron.
  • Berserk Button: Chris couldn't care less about Heather stealing the zeppelin or the million dollars, as he got the former at a discount sale and has no personal claim on the latter. Zoey pointing out that his TV awards are in the zeppelin riles Chris up, though.
  • Big "WHAT?!": When Jo is being dragged away by Chef after being eliminated, she calls out to Lightning that he was an idiot and couldn't even tell she was a girl. Lightning, who spent the whole season thinking Jo was a boy, cries out "You're what?!" in absolute shock.
  • The Cameo: Heather.
  • Cool Airship: Chris' newly-bought Zeppelin. a MAJOR improvement over the Jumbo Jet.
  • Crocodile Tears: Heather tearfully pretends to be sorry for stealing that season's prize money to catch Lightning off-guard. He believes her and gets beaten up for it.
  • Delayed Safety Feature: Chris has Heather slap on a Jet Pack and demonstrate his intended challenge. As she's flying out of control, Chris insists she'll be fine because the pack has a parachute. Heather ends up crashing face first into the ground and then the parachute deploys.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Cameron once he's finally fed up with Jo's bullying.
  • The Dreaded: The second gen campers are taken aghast when Heather is introduced as the episode's cameo.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Lightning, Jo, and Scott all seemed fairly concerned about Heather when she crashed landed while testing the jet packs.
  • Friendship Moment: Zoey has one of the goats catch Cameron in mid-air.
  • From Bad to Worse: Scott gets burned by the mutant mountain goats, and then lands right by Fang, who proceeds to chase him in the water.
  • Graceful Loser: Jo actually congratulates Cameron on his tactics to get her eliminated when he says he learned from her.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Ezekiel. Had he not fallen into the volcano with the prize money after trying to stealing it in the previous season finale, Heather wouldn’t have tried to steal this season’s $1 million prize case.
  • Guile Hero: Cameron anticipated Jo taking his smoke machine so he rigged it with an explosive just in case.
  • Hope Spot: After his encounter with the goats, a fried Scott at least lands otherwise unharmed and breathes a sigh of relief. Then he sees he's right in Fang's clutches.
  • Impossible Task: Scott gets one, having to build a bird for his flying machine.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Heather uses Chris' Gemmy awards to knock him and Chef on the head, as well as throwing at both the other contestants and the flying mountain goats.
  • Jerkass to One: Since Scott got Mike eliminated, Zoey has been taking out her frustration on him. She acknowledges how Scott really brings the jerk out of her.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • Heather hits Chris (who used her as a guinea pig in this episode) on the head with his Gemmy award then kicking him and Chef out of the zeppelin.
    • Jo takes the smoke machine Cameron won, and it blows up in her face, thanks to Cameron rigging it to do so.
  • Look Behind You: When Heather and Lightning are fighting over the prize money, Lightning spots Cameron's out-of-control rocket coming their way. He warns Heather to look behind her, but she thinks he is trying to trick her even as Lightning runs away himself. Too late for her own escape does Heather notice the incoming danger.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Lightning reacts to getting repeatedly hit with a metal briefcase with, at most, some irritation.
  • Mouse Trap: Scott draws the challenge to build a bird from the bag Chris holds up. He doesn't agree with that and reaches in to draw another challenge, only for two of his fingers to get caught in a mouse trap.
  • Not So Above It All: Despite her insistence she was out, Zoey is completely won over by seeing the million dollars. Cameron is also quite gleeful in the confessional at the prospect of winning the big prize.
  • Not-So-Innocent Whistle: Chris warns the campers for the flying mutant fire-breathing mountain goats, because they're very aggressive as of late. Feigning ignorance, Chef whistles as he recalls that the eggs to be used in the competition were stolen from the mountain goats by him.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Played for laughs with Zoey. She's about to quit until Chris reminds her of the million-dollar prize and shows it to her. She goes into a trance and says "money...removing all common sense and fear of danger."
  • Over-the-Shoulder Carry: Jo has just forced Cameron into an alliance when she catches him giving advice to Lightning. She tells Cameron to stop talking, grabs him by the hoodie, throws him over her shoulder, tells Lightning to get his own nerd, and runs off with her ally.
  • Pet the Dog: Lightning encourages Cameron to stand up to Jo, especially since she coerced him into giving her the smoke machine he originally won.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a play on the song "Up, Up and Away" by The 5th Dimension.
  • Prayer Is a Last Resort: Lightning falls a long way down from the zeppelin and with nothing better to do with his time, he resorts to praying for a soft landing. He gets both that and, by landing on Jo, a vengeful landing.
  • Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: After Cameron finally has enough of Jo, when she tells him to take some shots to the head for her so she can crash the zeppelin, and Lightning encourages him to stand up to her, Cameron calls out "Jo! Crash this!" before detonating the explosive chip he planted on the smoke machine Jo took, dropping her out of the challenge and by extension the competition.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Subverted. When Zoey threatens to walk out on the challenge for being too dangerous, Chris tempts her with the prize money, leading to the aforementioned OOC Moment.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The design of Chris's blimp is strikingly similar to that of The Hindenburg.
    • Cameron mentions Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin.
  • Tar and Feathers: Scott has to build himself a set of wings and gets well underway with a whole batch of mutant seagull feathers and a thick glue. However, Zoey is fixing up her flying machine nearby and obliviously gives it a test run. The air blown from the machine travels over and lifts the glue-covered feathers right onto Scott.
  • Tempting Fate: After hitting the water, Jo observes Scott getting chased by Fang and remarks things could've been worse for herself. Lightning immediately falls right on her.
  • Thrown from the Zeppelin: Heather gives this treatment to Chris and Chef in order to get the prize money that was on board.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The last we see of Heather is right before Cameron crashes his rocket into the zeppelin. She's not shown getting out of it even as it sinks into the water with her still inside. She does turn up alive the next season though.
  • Worthy Opponent: Jo admires Heather’s scheming tactics in the confession booth.
