Recap / Total Drama: "The Wheel of Vomit"

Go To

The contestants eat disgusting "food" to try and gain immunity.

Tropes:

  • Break-Up/Make-Up Scenario: The misunderstanding from the last episode is cleared up for Emma, who angrily dumps Chase again for blatantly not caring about her feelings or even sharing the chocolate bar Julia gave him for the express purpose of winning Emma back.
  • Call-Back: This challenge is reminiscent of "Brunch Of Disgustingness", only with even more repulsive meals. In fact, it ends just about the same way.
  • The Cameo: The intern with long bangs who debuted in Revenge of the Island has a cameo as a cameraman during the challenge.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Chef says that Chase and Emma's Destructive Romance is more repulsive than his cooking.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Chef may be fine with making disgusting food for the campers, but even he is appalled at Chris’ decision to make the final 2 in the challenge eat a 50-foot live tapeworm and had at least tried to make his dishes edible.
      • Even Chase, of all people, is also horrified of it.
    • Even Evil Has Standards: For all of Chris’ sadism, he apparently draws the line at making people eat ink.
  • Hurricane of Puns: Chris lets out a few vomit puns in one sentence as he recaps how the voting works.
  • I Ate WHAT?!: Parodied. Off all the nauseating things he eats in this episode, Zee gets disqualified when he pukes upon learning that milk comes from cows.
  • Impact Silhouette: Zee crashes through a wall this way when he runs away from the challenge.
  • Irony: All season, Priya has been trying to get Ripper eliminated; he goes home the one time she didn't vote for him.
  • Kick the Dog: Julia engages in several dog kicking antics when she enters the mess hall as she elbows Bowie, dumps rainbow colored gruel on Millie and Priya, pushes Emma into Chase’s lap, and gives Ripper and Zee painful wedgies.
  • Masochist's Meal: The food is even worse than any previous eating challenge, which were usually a case of Foreign Queasine. In this challenge, the campers have to eat actual parasites. The dishes include:
    • Old Sweaty Boot Beef (Old meat that Chef had cooked in one of his old boots)
    • Nose-sobuco (Congested pig snouts in a soup of their own snot)
    • Croissant du Cheveux (Croissants filled with hair and head lice)
    • Wiggle Fries (Poutine made with Cozu Marzu, a type of cheese filled with living maggots)
    • Toejam Cookies (Tiny balls of the stuff between Chef’s toes that he baked into cookies)
    • Moose Jelly
    • Seafood Milkshakes
    • Roasted Platypus Tail
    • Raccoon Tartare
    • Caterpillar Soufflé
  • Rainbow Puke: Chris has the breakfast gruel dyes different colors, knowing full well it would be seen again.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Millie ditches the challenge before it even begins.
  • Spaghetti Kiss: Ripper tries to do this with Julia while they're both eating the tapeworm, only for Julia to aggressively bite off part the finish line and win immunity.
  • Talking Animal: The tapeworm uses the confessional to admit it hasn't showered in a while.
  • A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: Narrowly subverted. Priya vented her frustrations by voting for Millie, and when the latter ends up on the bottom two, Priya thinks she might have voted off her best friend. Luckily for her, Ripper gets voted off instead.
  • Vomit Chain Reaction: After Julia wins immunity, Chef tries announcing it, only to hurl. This causes everyone else to start puking as well, including the camera crew.
  • Wheel of Decisions: Chris uses one such wheel to see what the campers will be eating.
  • Worst. Whatever. Ever!: Bowie says "Grossest. Episode. Ever!" after the challenge is over.

Tapeworm

Chef Hatchet pukes at the sight of a very large tapeworm being eaten by Julia and Ripper, before they do, and later everyone else, sans Chris.

How well does it match the trope?
