Recap / Total Drama: "Pahk'd With Talent"

Go To

The final three participates in three challenges of the contestants choosing. Thanks to her terrible performance in her challenge, Sugar has the lowest score and is eliminated, leaving Sky and Shawn as the season's final two.

Tropes that apply to this episode include:

  • Ant Assault: The hurdles race was supposed to be a regular hurdles race, but Chris decided it needed a few traps to spice things up. Among others, a nest of fire ants is located behind one hurdle and Shawn just so happens to trip over that one and lands face first amidst the ants.
  • Call-Back: Sugar yells "I'm coming, wizard!" as she's being eliminated, referencing how she was one of the only contestants to believe Leonard could actually do magic.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Sky's challenge was jumping hurdles. While Sky and Shawn do what you'd expect, Sugar keeps plowing into the hurdles under the misguided belief she was supposed to collect them.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: Shawn's initial choice for a challenge was a scavenger hunt to find government documents confirming the zombie virus exists, but Chris says they're not doing that. Shawn proceeds to rant about how far-reaching the conspiracy is, until Chris interrupts him.
  • Cool Crown: Sugar wears a tiara while in the cannon.
  • Crazy-Prepared: In the confessional, Shawn shows off the plans for his zombie-proof bunker. It includes a panic room inside a panic room, to which he says that one can't be too careful.
  • Darkhorse Victory: Sugar wins Shawn's challenge. She climbed to the very top of the first tree and the combination of the tree length, her weight, and gravity allowed her to cross the finish line without hitting the ground before then.
  • Decision Darts: Chris says the order of the challenges was randomly determined with the help of the interns. We cut to three nervous interns each holding a picture of one of the final three, while a blindfolded Chris gets ready to throw a very sharp dart.
  • Epic Fail: Sugar's Craptry song.
  • Godzilla Threshold:
    • Sky's burping talent. She admits it was the only thing she could think of.
    • Shawn admits he had never done his armpit talent in front of others before and had no other options.
  • Groin Attack: Shawn suffers this during the hurdles race, due to it being rigged to move mid-jump.
  • "Hell, Yes!" Moment: Shawn over the first challenge being a hurdles race. Hurdles are a regular part of his training regimen.
  • Heroic BSoD: Shawn is saddened that Jasmine is gone, if still relieved he doesn't have to split the prize money with her.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard:
    • Sugar was eliminated after placing lowest in the challenge that she had chosen (a talent show). Not only that, but both Sky and Shawn did gross things that Sugar usually does.
    • Shawn's challenge was jumping from tree to tree. He figured it'd be a snap, but he suffers this after a nasty fall and has to start over. Luckily for him, Sky hit the ground just before crossing the finish line, so he still had more than enough time to get second place.
  • Hope Spot: Ahead of the second challenge, Sky was expecting Sugar to come in dead last like before, which would've mathematically eliminated her. Instead, Sugar lucks into placing first, while Sky comes in last, leaving the final three all tied up going into the third challenge.
  • It's Personal: Sky wants to get Sugar eliminated for betraying their alliance in the last episode.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Sugar gets eliminated by Chris for her poor singing. Ultimately, she was responsible for Ella's elimination, by selling her out to Chris.
  • Not-So-Innocent Whistle: Chris decides the order of the camper-created challenges by throwing darts at the campers' photos as they're being held up by interns, all the while wearing a blindfold. Predictably, one of the darts injures an intern, prompting Chris to turn around, whistle, and walk away.
  • Oh, Crap!: Sky upon learning That Was Not a Dream.
  • Person as Verb: When it's time for the talent show, the challenge Sugar proposed, she warns Sky and Shawn that they're "going to get Sugar'ed bad".
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Sugar insists that she was never gonna hit Sky with the club... on camera.
  • Pun-Based Title: The title is a play on the phrase "packed with talent".
  • Scary Stinging Swarm: The hurdles race was supposed to be a regular hurdles race, but Chris decided it needed a few traps to spice things up. Among others, a beehive hangs from one hurdle, which Sugar runs into. She barely registers the bees as she takes the opportunity to snack on the honey.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Slasher Smile: Sugar while brandishing her club.
  • Tree Buchet: Sugar lands in a tree, which starts illogically swinging back and forth with greater force each time until it tosses her past the finish line.
  • That Was Not a Dream: Sky wakes up seeing Sugar looming over her with a club. She closes her eyes in fright, but after a moment, she opens them and doesn't see Sugar anymore. Sky thinks it was just a dream, but we see Sugar in her bunk holding the club.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: The look on the interns' faces before a blindfolded Chris throws that dart.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Sky admits that she underestimated what Sugar was capable of last time and nearly got eliminated as a result, so she's not going to make the same mistake twice. Then again, her first attempt at not being so nice results in getting pushed into a thorn bush.
