This volume contains the following tropes:

  • Amnesiac Villain Joins the Heroes: After Westcott's death, Ellen fainted and woke up with no memory of him or DEM, and has since joined Ratatoskr. Artemisia also lost her memories with DEM and befriends Origami and the AST, though she was at least a more pleasant person before getting brainwashed into DEM's service.
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: During her diatribe about Shido risking his life to confront Beast, Kotori expresses her love for him, not wanting him to die.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: After Beast appears aboard the Fraxinus, Shido, knowing what he must do, declares, "Now, let's begin our date!"
  • The Dog Bites Back: Nia uses Ellen for unpaid labor (she has a fixed salary at Ratatoskr), and treats her like crap as payback for kidnapping her.
  • Easy Amnesia: Ellen and Artemisia lose their memories of working for DEM after Westcott's death. Possibly due to Westcott himself.
  • Emergency Transformation: Mio saved Yoshino's life by turning her into a spirit.
  • Oh, Crap!: Everyone is in shock when Beast uses Michael to board the Fraxinus and appear right in front of them.
  • Out of Focus: Despite the focus being on the former Spirits in their daily lives, Miku does not appear until near the end of the volume.
  • Pretending to Be One's Own Relative: At the hospital, in order to avoid explaining why she still appears as she did 20 years ago, Yoshino introduces herself to the hospital staff as her own daughter, "Yoshie."
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: Nia stuns Shido by wearing a fancy evening dress for a night out, a change from her normal worn-out jersey she usually wears.
  • Split-Personality Merge: Kotori replaces her black ribbon on her left twintail with her white one, combining her Commander personality with her Little Sister one.
  • Sequel Hook: In addition to Yoshino, Kotori also hands Natsumi and the Yamai sisters envelopes containing their past as humans. Although the details of their past are not explained in this volume.
  • Tragic Keepsake:
    • Kurumi keeps the eye patches as well as other accessories that were previously worn by her clones when she was still a spirit. She briefly wears them before she is caught by Shido.
    • Yoshinon turns out to be this from Yoshino's mother as it was the last gift she gave her before her untimely death.
  • Wham Line:
Shido: [to Kotori] Who decided that my feelings for my little sister are inferior to that of a lover?
  • Where Are They Now: The majority of the volume shows the new status quo of the now-former Spirits and their allies, even their (former?) enemies.
    • Mukuro, Natsumi, Mana, and Yoshino now attend Kotori's school, all set to graduate and advance to High School.
    • Ellen now works at Raizen High School as a deputy teacher.
    • Nia is working on her current Manga and has hired Maria and her duplicates (And Ellen) to assist her in meeting the deadline.
