As Kory’s memories come flooding back, she discovers her true mission, regarding Rachel. While Dick and Donna discover Kory’s alien origins, Rachel uses her powers to save Gar.

Tropes

  • Adaptational Consent: In the comics and most media, Angela was raped by Trigon and Rachel was born from that. This episode reveals she and Trigon are actually together.
  • All According to Plan: Dick realises too late that everything that happened at the Asylum was just meant to gain Rachel's trust for her mother; the members of the cult sacrificing themselves so Trigon can return.
  • Big Blackout: The moment Trigon steps into our dimension, the power cuts out in the car that Dick is driving. Fortunately they're close enough to travel the rest of the way on foot.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: This episode reveals that Angela was Evil All Along and was playing nice with Rachel and her friends just to make sure Trigon is released.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Dick running into the house to save Rachel from Trigon.
  • Character Title: The episode is titled "Koriand'r" and is about discovering Kory's roots.
  • Cool Starship: Kory's ship, X'Hall, which she hid in an abandoned warehouse.
  • Hell on Earth: Kory shows Dick and Donna a projection of what would happen to Tamaran if Trigon comes out of his prison dimension. The projection shows that Trigon would turn it into a hellish wasteland. Earth will the first world to have this fate and then any living world.
  • Deflector Shields: Trigon generates a mystical shield around Angela's house that keeps out Kory and Donna but allows Dick to pass through.
  • Evil All Along: Angela had been working the entire time to manipulate Rachel into summoning Trigon.
  • Fantasy Kitchen Sink: This episode fully establishes that the Titanverse is set in one, including Badass Normals, Human Aliens, Psychic Powers and the typical superhero powers.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Angela is very polite and calm but she is also Trigon's minion.
  • Human Aliens: Kory is a Tamaranean, which look like black humans.
  • Info Dump: Kory gets her memories back and tells Dick and Donna about Trigon.
  • Internal Reveal: Kory, Dick, and Donna find out that Kory is from Tamaran.
  • It's Not You, It's Me: Rachel tries to make Gar leave her, since she is afraid for his safety.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: It's quite ambiguous if Gar has hallucinations of the doctor he killed because of Trigon's influence, PTDS or both.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Trigon cures Gar as Angela promised her daughter he would, but it's implied this is to further manipulate her.
  • Red Herring: The cop that Angela knew from school was set up to look like he was working for Trigon. Turns out, he's just a regular guy who is murdered by Angela the moment he gets in the way.
  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: All of Kory, Dick, Gar and Rachel's attempts to avert the doomsday prophecy are nullified, in the moment they accidentaly made it happen and bring Trigon to Earth thanks to Angela's manipulations.
  • Some Kind Of Forcefield: A Cloaking Device makes the house disappear and prevents anyone with superpowers from entering.
  • Squee: Gar's reaction to meeting Donna Troy/Wonder Girl.
  • Tome of Eldritch Lore: Kory had a book named Gul'ron Dez Dire ("Death of Worlds") describing Trigon and the doomsday prophecy about Rachel.
